CHAPTER 6 – DISTRICT SIX, DIVERGENT UNIVERSE

"Her hair is not flattering," I muttered into Tris's ear. She rolled her eyes.

"Aren't you guys a little nervous? I mean, I'm prepared to volunteer for whoever gets called, no matter if I know them or not," Natalie – Tris's mother – told us. Spoken like a Stiff.

"Really, Mom? I think people should be able to fight for themselves. If I'm called, don't you dare volunteer for me."

"Or me," I added. "Honestly, I don't think that's fair. The one being volunteered for doesn't even get a say."

On top of the platform the city had erected for her, Effie drew a name from the bowl of female names.

"Christina Reaves!"

I gasped. Tris stared at me.

"I v-" Natalie began, but I shamelessly clapped my hand over her mouth before she did something stupid. I clambered onto the stage with Miss Unflattering Hair.

"And for the men... Tobias Eaton!"

I couldn't help myself – I burst out laughing. Four gave me a glare as he joined me.

"What?" I asked.

"Well, for starters, we're both about to be murderers."

"Don't say it like that. You know what I think? I think we're about to kick some ass."
