Hilario is 1000 kilometer away from Milagros, and that is 45 minutes away drive only. I am less than hour away from Lareen. However, the boundary between Milagros and Hilario is is being guarded by my father and sisters guards. Dogs. Tss.

"See? There are so many dogs here. We can't pass the checkpoint, bro" Karlos said habang nakatingin kami sa kinaroroonan ng mga guards. Hindi na kami tumuloy para atleast hindi malaman ni Kassandra na nagattempt akong pumunta ng Milagros. Nasa passenger seat lang ako ng sasakyan ni Karlos.

"Fuck. Kassandra's really getting on my nerves" I said at pabagsak na sumandal.

Karlos chuckles. "That's the curse of a bitter old maid"

"There's another route, right?" I asked.

"Oh, come on!" Karlos exclaimed. "Don't tell me that we're going to drive the other way?"

"Why not?"

"No"

"Get off"

"What?!"

"Get off!" I pushed him slightly.

"Are you kidding me, Kuya? It's a 3 hours drive route!" He said habang naglalakad papunta sa passenger seat.

"I know!" Sabi ko sabay sakay sa driver seat at hinawakan na ang manibela.

"Hilario to Catalina to Kapri to Pahik to Milagros. Are you sure?" His unbelief covers his face.

"I am certain. Buckle up" I said at nagdrive na pabalik.

"Bro, you are out of your mind" mapait na litanya ni Karlos habang napapailing. "Jeez! How can you be sure that Castillo's will open their gates for us? Our families cut off ties years back, Kuya. Mamaya patayin pa tayo dun e"

"Shut up,  pussy cat"  I hissed.

"Tss. Impulsive, moron. How many percent yung posibility na makikita natin si Lareen aber? You are not thinking. Tss. Not so smart, Arkin"

When it comes to Lareen, even the 1% of hope matters. She's worth more than a 6 hours drive back and forth.  When there's none, then I'll make one. I want to see her. Badly.

I missed her so much that it hurts.

I am worried she might overthink and I am sure she'll be.

"You can ask people to do it for you. You have Andoy to do that, right? And -"

Karlos stopped talking nung inihinto ko ang sasakyan sa tabi.

"Bumaba ka na bago pa kita isalvage, Karlos" I said seriously at tinanggal ang pagkakabuckle ng seat belt niya.

Tumingin siya sa paligid. Nasa boundary na kami ng Hilario at Catalina. Nasa highway na puno lang ang makikita mo sa paligid.

"Bat ako bababa e sasakayan ko to?"

"Ang ingay mo kasi, daig ko pa ang may kasamang babae. Mas maingay ka pa kay ate Cass e"

"Nagbibigay lang ako ng opinyon. Ba't ang sensitive mo? Iandar mo na at idaan mo sa convinient store. Ayokong bumyahe ng tatlong oras na wala man lang makakain" sabi niya  at binuckle up ulit ang seatbelt at ininclined ang upuan.

Lihim akong napangiti.

Pagkalipas ng isang oras ay inihinto ko ang sasakyan sa tapat ng maliit na convinient store sa Catalina. Inilock ko ang pinto at sinundan si Karlos na unang pumasok sa loob ng tindahan.

Kumuha siya ng mga tsitsiryang nasa malaking lalagyan, ilang in-can na beer at mineral water.

"San picnic?"
