It is the base of who we are
to those whom we know
Yet it lacks all that is bizarre
and that which we barely show
It is all that is ever seen
by those we barely see
With little they can glean
But it isn't the reality
It is what we are given
to show who we are
Yet is often misgiven
and can even leave a scar
