"Well, she did say we could continue..."
Justin says with a smirk as he leans in closer.
Way to close!
I quickly push him away as I roll my eyes.
"There was nothing to continue, we weren't even-"
"Dinner is ready!"
Mrs. Moore calls down from the top of the stairs.
"Food?!"
James exclaims as he suddenly sits up. Justin jumps away from James in surprise before falling off of the couch with a heavy thump.
"Oof!"
Justin groans in discomfort.
"What's with him?"
James asks in confusion and I shrug.
I don't know....
He seemed startled...
"Hey, you okay?"
I ask leaning over to look down at him, but he remains silent.
"Justin?"
Without warning, Justin grabs my wrist before pulling me down on top of him.
"Oomph!"
What was that for?
I sit up and look down to see Justin looking up at me with amusement shining in his eyes as he laughs.
"What was that for?"
I demand as I narrow my eyes in annoyance.
"Did I scare you?"
Justin asks with a smirk and I frown when I realize that his hands are resting on my hips.
"Ew..."
James mutters in disapproval and I glance up to see James looking down at us from the couch with a raised eyebrow.
I quickly get to my feet before making my way towards the stairs.
"Raya?"
Justin asks as I disappear up the stairs as I make my way towards the kitchen. However, I stop when I hear voices from the dinning room.
"Hey, honey."
A male's voice states filled with love.
"Hey, mudface."
Mrs. Moore chuckles in amusement.
Mudface?
I glance into the dinning room to see a man giving Mrs. Moore a kiss on the lips before pulling away.
He must be Mr. Moore...
He's tall with a rather lean physique and fair skin. He has familiar piercing blue eyes and black hair combed back. He wears a black suit and tie which gives him a rather professional appearance.
"Why are there five plates?"
Mr. Moore asks in a deep voice as he takes note of the plates resting on the table.
"Are Nathan and Tyson coming over for dinner?"
Mr. Moore asks causing Mrs. Moore to smile as she arranges the cutlery on the table.
"No, Justin brought home a girl."
"A girl?"
Mr. Moore asks in surprise.
"Yep, along with her little brother."
Mrs. Moore answers causing me to frown.
Why does she sound so...pleased that Justin brought me here?
"Boo!"
Without warning, two hands grab hold of my waist before pulling me back. However, they're careful to avoid the stitches in my side.
Within seconds, I have the person pinned to the ground with my fist pulled back to punch.
My eyes narrow in annoyance as I glare down at Justin.
"What the hell do you think you're doing trying to give me a freaking heart attack!"
I growl out in anger causing him to laugh.
"You should've seen the look on your face!"
He laughs before looking up at me in confusion.
"But how did I end up on the ground?"
He asks causing me to roll my eyes.
Idiot!
"Are you two okay?"
Mrs. Moore asks walking over towards us and I nod as I quickly get to my feet.
"Yeah, other then the fact that Justin almost ended up with a broken nose."
I mutter as I send Justin a glare.
He would have deserved it...
Mr. Moore chuckles in amusement before holding out his hand.
"Mason Moore, nice to meet you."
I take his hand in my own.
"Raya Silver."
I answer with a polite smile.
"It's nice to meet you as well."
I answer before hearing Justin whisper something to James.
"Alright! Everyone take a seat!"
Mrs. Moore says gesturing to the table.
I hesitate before taking a seat between James and Justin.
"I hope you both like spaghetti."
Mrs. Moore says and I nod.
"It's one of our favorites."
I reassure as she begins to fill each of our plates with spaghetti.
"So, Raya, how long have you and Justin known each other?"
Mr. Moore asks and I glance at Justin.
"Um, I think just a few days."
I answer causing Mr. Moore's eyes to widen in surprise.
"Really? You two became friends that quickly?"
Mr. Moore asks and I hesitate.
Friends?
"Oh, um..."
I wouldn't really consider us friends...
"It's a unique friendship."
Justin answers causing me to raise an eyebrow.
Unique?
Sure, if by unique you mean that when we first met I dumped a smoothie on your head...
"And how old are you?"
Mr. Moore asks as he shifts his gaze back to me.
Oh no...
I'm already being interrogated...
"I just turned eighteen a few weeks ago."
I answer causing him to smile.
"Really? That must be nice."
I shrug as I take a drink of the glass of water placed in front of me.
"I feel no different."
"You don't see yourself as an adult?"
Mr. Moore asks causing a small laugh to escape my lips.
With how I was raised?
"I do, but I believe it's more of how you're raised and your attitude that defines whether or not you're an adult. Not your age."
I answer before taking a bite of spaghetti.
Oh!
"This is absolutely delicious! You're an amazing cook Mrs. Moore."
I compliment causing her to smile.
"Thank you, sweetheart! Do you cook, dear?"
"A little bit, but I've gotten some more practice since I've been working at Jean's Diner."
"Oh, do you enjoy working there?"
"Yes, I do."
I agree as a small smile pulls at my lips.
Not to mention I get to work with my friend Jo.
"Okay, my turn to ask a question."
I state as I lift my gaze up to Mr. And Mrs. Moore.
"Why did Mrs. Moore call you mudface?"
I ask in curiousity and they both smile.
"When Rebecca and I first met, we got into a bit of a fight."
Oh, really?
It must run in the family.
I glance over at Justin to see his piercing eyes already watching me.
"And I sort of caused a mud fight when he decided to follow me when I was already fuming."
Mrs. Moore remarks as she looks at Mr. Moore with a raised eyebrow.
"Sort of? You threw mud in my face!"
"Exactly, that's why the nickname stuck."
Mrs. Moore explains with a grin of amusement and I smile.
Mudface and smoothieface....
