I thought I lost myself there

Write random words on the wall to make it prettier
Only to hate it five seconds later
Tell your best friend they've been talking to a stranger
And how you've never been more than a machine
Blurting out whatever it is that people want to hear

Dance naked in your room to that music that makes you melt
Lay alone and pretend you're laying next to him
Dream about flying and being in places you've never been

Tell yourself you've been so many different people
You're not sure which one you really are
Pretend you know how to play the guitar
Hate yourself for being too lazy to even try
Paint over the words on the wall
Tell yourself you don't need them
Go outside and kiss a boy
Be that girl
Be the slut
Get hurt
Time to change

Draw flowers in the border of your notebooks
Smile
Someone tells you your smile is pretty
Smile harder
Be loved
Be hurt
Give up
Not yet

Paint your walls in black
Show those bags under your eyes
Walk like a lonely cat
Have your eyes beg for saving
Like they're praying
For some form of change
Listen to Songs about rebellion and chaos and
Beauty
Be a lonesome queen
Find a king
Let him kiss you
Let him trick you
Throw him away

Scream at those around you
Tell them you're not that girl
Whatever the girl they think
You are
Ask the boys who do they want you to be
And be
