A Nocturnal's Struggles

There's that darkness in your room
In the middle of a windy night
That gives you a reason to close your eyes and
Never to open again

But there's that line of light coming from your brother's bedroom
Because he's still afraid of the dark
You so secretly
Adore
But the light is keeping your eyes open and you feel that when you close them the whole world will fall down
And there's that stray of sun light sipping through the window in the morning that lets you know the world isn't waiting for you to catch up
You feel your legs heavy and you don't want to leave the protection of your cheap sheets
You cover your head and you drift to that middle in between awake and asleep
Neither
Either
What a depressing way to exist
As the sunlight warms your skin and your little brother runs around
It's a new day
A new day
Then how come you feel so bloody damn out of place?
