Butterflies

Driving through town at 2am make the city lights look like fireflies, waiting for the darkness so they can show how pretty they can get. Trying to escape the claws of those who wanted to tear us apart, we were high above the clouds.
We spread our beautifully fragile wings, flew away from the ground that once held us prisoner.
And shame to those who told us that we couldn't do it. Shame to everyone who thought we weren't good enough.
Shame to you for not seeing what was right in front of your eyes.
Such beautiful butterflies.
