I walked outside, my arm linked with Nathan's as we headed inside the van with everyone.

"So where are we going tonight?" Ava asked.

"Just wait. You'll love it." Jay winked. She laughed and nodded. I looked out my window, thinking to myself. I felt someone's hand give mine a squeeze. I looked to see Nathan. He smirked at my face which was probably pink.

"You okay?" He asked bringing me closer, putting an arm around my shoulder.

I smiled and nodded before turning back to the window.

"Nathan? Are you okay?" I wrote on a notebook from my window. Nathan was talking to Elizabeth about how bad Jordan was. Elizabeth wasn't listening and they were fighting. He was pacing back and forth, and the window was open so I could hear his yelling.

He hung up the phone as he slumped on his bed, looking at me through the window. He nodded no.

"Elizabeth is so blind about Jordan. He isn't right for her! I am!" He yelled.

"What do you see in her, Sykes?" I asked, raising an eye brow. He sighed. "She's so perfect. So funny. Everyone loves her, but I know she kinda likes me. I will get her to be my girlfriend. I have to." He punched his fist onto the bed. I nodded.

If only he could see, Elizabeth wasn't the one for him.

Nathan's phone began to ring again.

"Elizabeth?" I asked, raising an eye brow. He nodded.

"I got to take this." He said, getting up and closing his curtain. I nodded to myself and turned towards the tv. I brought my book closer to me.

You're on the phone with your girlfriend ‒ she's upset,

She's going off about something that you said

'Cause she doesn't get your humor like I do.

I'm in the room ‒ it's a typical Tuesday night.

I'm listening to the kind of music she doesn't like.

And she'll never know your story like I do.

But she wears short skirts

I wear t-shirts

She's cheer captain

And I'm on the bleachers

Dreaming about the day when you wake up and find

That what you're looking for has been here the whole time.

If you could see

That I'm the one

Who understands you.

Been here all along.

So, why can't you see ‒

You belong with me,

You belong with me?

Walking the streets with you in your worn out jeans

I can't help thinking this is how it ought to be.

Laughing on a park bench thinking to myself,

"Hey, isn't this easy?"

And you've got a smile

That can light up this whole town.

I haven't seen it in awhile

Since she brought you down.

You say you're fine ‒ I know you better than that.

Hey, what you doing with a girl like that?

She wears high heels,

I wear sneakers.

She's cheer captain,

And I'm on the bleachers.

Dreaming about the day when you wake up and find

That what you're looking for has been here the whole time.

If you could see

That I'm the one

Who understands you,

Been here all along.

So, why can't you see ‒

You belong with me?

Standing by and waiting at your backdoor.

All this time how could you not know, baby ‒

You belong with me,

You belong with me?

Oh, I remember you were driving to my house

In the middle of the night.

I'm the one who makes you laugh

When you know you're 'bout to cry.

I know your favorite songs,

And you tell me about your dreams.

Think I know where you belong,

Think I know it's with me.

Can't you see

That I'm the one

Who understands you?

Been here all along.

So, why can't you see ‒

You belong with me?

Standing by and waiting at your backdoor.

All this time how could you not know, baby ‒

You belong with me,

You belong with me?

You belong with me.

Have you ever thought just maybe

You belong with me?

You belong with me.

I finished reading over lyrics to my song. I looked at Nathan's window. His curtain was open and he was sat on bed watching me.

"What are you working on?" he asked.

"Just some girl stuff." I smiled and looked back at my book. He was in his house, but I could still hear the small chuckle.

"Have fun with that." I heard him say.

"Danielle?"  I heard someone's voice. I looked from my window, snapping out of my thoughts.

'Y-Yeah?" I asked, gulping the lump that was in my throat.

"Are you okay?"

I nodded and rested my head on his shoulder.

"Do you remember what I said before?" He asked.

"About what?"

"About you never feeling loved?"

I gulped.

"What about it."

"That's not true."
