❝ i wish things were different ❞

seeing selena's messages she sent throughout the week, justin felt incredibly worse. he hadn't told her why he wasn't replying to her, because he thought separation between both of them would be good – but only now he realised that it was only good for him, never her. he left her in the dark. the only reason for him not replying was because he began developing things he never wanted to toward her.

but he still didn't respond. he knew it was best not to. he had trouble not to when he came off his private jet in los angeles. "thanks, samuel," justin thanks the pilot. heaving a sigh, justin leaves the airport through the back exit, immediately going into the car justin ordered to pick him up in.

imessage (1)
selena: please tell me why you're ignoring me...i can't handle this anymore.

another message beeped onto his phone from selena, something he didn't want but also did. he didn't want her to text him anymore because every time his phone beeped alerting a new message his heart skips a beat, and he argues with himself every time whether to reply to selena, making it harder on him to ignore. but when she didn't text him, even when he didn't reply, he felt empty. it was insane to not think that he was hurting her by doing this – he knew and hated it – but everyone plastered into his mind that she'll do him good, and he was scared. he didn't want selena to go, but nor did he want to get serious with her, and he always knew when he hit that 'send' on his phone he was slowly reeling her in, because she was doing the same to him – the difference was that she didn't know he was slowly falling for her every time a message flashes on his phone from her, every time she talks about craving ice-cream with her favourite flavour. he was falling so hard that he didn't like it. he was falling so hard he couldn't stop it. and, that's why he stopped replying to her, because he was scared.

so doing what he thought was doing him good, he ignores his message he received and decides to turn his phone off altogether.
