XVI.| prom season.

"Black it is." I said looking in the mirror as I tried on the dress that was made for me.
"You feeling this blue?" Tia asked as she modeled her dress for me.

"Yes , you look beautiful T." I said smiling at my bestfriend.

"How do you all like the dresses?" The designer asked walking up to the mirror.
"Mine is perfect just take it a little lower in the back." She smiled.
"What about you Jade?" She asked with a smile.
"It's perfect. I'll take it today." I smiled.
We walked out to the front and she put the dress in my hand.
"How much do I owe you?"I asked putting the dress over my shoulder.
"It's okay, your dad paid me already." She said putting her hands up.
"He paid for your shoes too, I'll have them ready in two days"she smiled.
"Thanks Doris" I smiled before walking away.
"Tia, your dress will be ready in two days also." Doris waved to us.

"I'm starving"Tia said as we walked down the sidewalk to my car.
"Me too. You want pizza?" I asked I unlocked the door.
"Pizza is fine" Tia said.
I drove a few streets down to little pizza place called 'Star Pizza'.
We got out of the car and joined hands swinging our arms.

"Hi welcome to Star Pizza. How many?" The hostess asked us.

"Two" I said with a smile.
"Could we have a table on the balcony please?" Tia asked with a smile.
"Sure thing. You guys look great together. How long have you all been a couple?" She asked with a smile.
Tia and I looked at each other and started laughing. I was going to correct her but Tia decided to go along with it.
"We've been together since freshman year and I love her sooooo much." She cooed kissing my hand.
"Aww how cute is that." She cooed leading us to our table
I pursed my lips to hold back my laughter, because I found this hilarious.
She showed us to the table and we sat down across from each other.
"Why you tell that girl I'm your woman?" I laughed.
"She just assumed that we were together just because we're holding hands. Bye." She laughed.

"Hi, my name is Shanice and I'll be your server for today." A beautiful dark skinned girl said with a smile.
"Are you all ready to order?" She asked.
"Yes I want the Hawaiian with cheese stuffed crust and a strawberry lemonade." Tia said sweetly.
"And for you ma'am?" She turned to me.
"I would like the lasagna and a coke. I thought I wanted pizza but I changed my mind." I smiled.
"Okay I'll have that out for you shortly." She said walking away.

"So how are you and Quincy?" Tia asked.
"We're good, I guess I just saw him the other day." I sighed.
"Is he still seeing that girl?" She asked.
"Yeah, he doesn't know that I know though." I said sadly.
"Why don't you just leave him alone Jay?" She asked concerned.
"I love him." I said looking down at the table.
"Clearly he doesn't love you, all he does is hurt you. Just because he isn't the same as Kevin it doesn't make him any better." She said putting her hand on mine.
"Speaking of Kevin, he came to my house the other day"I said sadly.
"What?! Why didn't you tell me? Did you tell Quincy?"she asked.
"No I haven't told anyone. I think he's going to kill me." I whispered.

"Why you ain't said nothing to anybody jay?" She semi-yelled.

"Here's your food" Shanice said placing trays on the table.
"Thank you." I replied and she walked away.

"I haven't said anything because I've been thinking about what he could do to me. What he could do to Quincy. It just scares me T." I said trying not to cry.

"Don't you have a restraining order on him?" She asked confused.
"I do, but do you realize who we're talking about here? KD! He don't give a fuck about no restraining order." I said shaking my head.

"We've got to do something about this." She said shaking her head.

"Hey Shanice, we're going to take this food to go" Tia said getting her attention.

We packed up our food and got into my car, driving up to county.

I think it's time I pay my dad a visit.
