Authors note , I know these last few chapters have been kind of boring, but the drama is about to start really really soon. I try to update everyday , but sometimes when I work really long hours at my job, I'm really tired.
-January 1997
"Quincy." I whispered to him as we sat on the phone. We weren't speaking, just listening to each other breathing. "Yeah?" He said shuffling around. "You're faithful to me right?" I asked softly. "Of course baby. Why wouldn't I be?" He said in a low sleepy voice. "Why you ask me that?" He said through a yawn. "Well, because someone told me that they saw you with someone." I said hesitantly because I knew he would get mad. "Man Jay, I told you stop listening to the them hoes. I done already told you that they gone tell you whatever because they jealous and they don't want to see you happy with me. Stop entertaining that bullshit Jay for real." He semi-yelled in his sleepy voice. I took a minute before I responded. "If you ever have another girlfriend besides me, I'm going to kill her." I said serious as a heart attack, because I'm not playing. He started to laugh, "I'm falling asleep goodnight Jay." He yawned. "Goodnight." I said about to hang up the phone. "I love you." He said quickly before hanging up the phone. "I love you too." I put the phone on the hook and turned over to hug my pillow. Quincy says he faithful to me and I believe him, it's just that he has been acting really different. We only talk on the phone at night now , he only kisses me in private and he doesn't ride with me after school anymore. Maybe he has something going on.

"Alright seniors , as you know yearbook season is coming up and our winners are in." Mrs.Butler said sounding very excited on the announcements. I sat in back of my classroom, real quiet because I'm not feeling well today. I actually haven't been feeling well for awhile, but today it's worse. I'm going to Doctor soon, because I've got to get this straightened out. "We're going to announce these differently this year. Instead of saying all categories, I'll just say the names of people who are winners in multiple categories." She said pausing, we heard shuffling as if she is looking for a piece of paper. "First up, we have Ms. Jade Johnson, Winner in four categories." She screamed in excitement. The whole class clapped and looked back at me, even though I wasn't in the best of moods I still smiled and thanked everyone that congratulated me. "Jade is nominated in "Best Smile" , "Cutest Couple along with Mr.Quincy Crooks.", "Best Hair" and "Best Abs". Everyone started clapping and cheering. I didn't hear the rest of the categories, I zoned out after mine. I just started to think about everything, my life, my relationship and what could possibly be wrong with me. The bell rang and I walked out of class, to my surprise Quincy is outside of the door waiting for me. "Hey baby." He says pulling me to him by hips. "hey." I said dryly kissing him on the cheek. "What's wrong?" He said pulling back to look at my face. "Nothing." I said shaking my head. Truth is, nothing is wrong I just kind of thought myself into a bad mood, I tend to do that a lot. "You sure you alright baby?" "You not looking well." He said grabbing my face looking at me. "I'm fine, I'm just tired, really." I said looking down at my feet. I know he hates when I do that, but I'm just feeling that way right now. "What are you doing after school." He said lifting my head and pecking my lips. I smiled at him, because he didn't yell at me this time. "I'm going to get my hair braided." I said softly still smiling at him. "Alright , well I'm coming with you." He said grabbing my hand. He walked me all the way to my next class. We stopped at the door and he kissed me once again, but longer this time. I turned around around to walk in the door and he tapped me. "Smile baby, I done told you, you too cute to be frowning like that." He said tapping my behind as he walked away. I blushed as I walked into the classroom , everyone was looking at me. "Y'all are too cute." This girl that usually sits behind me cooed. "Thank you." I laughed thinking about the two of us together. "I heard that y'all won cutest couple this morning." She said switching into the seat that was next to me. "Yeah, I didn't even know that I was nominated for all that stuff." I laughed. "How long have the two of been together?" She asked resting her head on the backs of her hands. "We started talking in September, but we didn't become official until October I think." I said kind of unsure. I've never been the type of girl to keep up with things like that. I have no idea why she's so interested in Quincy and I's business nor do I care, but it's kind of weird to me that she's so interested. "I know you're probably weirded out by me asking all these questions, I just think you all are so cute." She laughed. "Yeah, I kinda was. I never caught your name." I said finally looking up from my work. "April, my name is April." She smiled. Shortly, the bell rang and I walked out again, Quincy was waiting for me at the door. "Don't you ever goto class?" I asked laughing. The girl April walked out behind standing kind of close to Quincy and I, she started watching us and it kind of annoyed me. What the fuck is she looking at? "Since she looking Ima give her something to look at." Quincy whispered in my ear. He grabbed me by the waist and pulled me close to us where there was no space between us. He firmly grabbed my butt and started tonguing me down in the middle of the hallway. "Now let's go baby." He said grabbing my hand leading me out the door. "Who doing your hair?" He asked as we walked to my car. Before we got to the car someone tapped my shoulder. It's was Tyrese, this little gay boy who is captain of the yearbook committee. "Hey Jade, Quincy yearbook photos will be taken tomorrow for category winners." He said with much excitement. We both smiled and nodded to acknowledge that we got the message. "Tia's mom is gonna do it at her shop." I said opening the door to get into the car. "Make sure she get them naps at the back." He laughed touching the back of my head. "Fuck you." I rolled my eyes and started up the car. "You mad? Don't nobody care about you being mad. Big head ass." He laughed. Maybe he should have stayed his ass at home. I just looked at him again and rolled my eyes. We finally arrived at the shop and we both went in. "Hey ma." I said walking into the salon. "Hey Baby Jay" Tiffany, Tia and Ambers mom said hugging me. "Lawd, Michelle got a grown man on her hands. How you doing Quincy?." She said giving him a hug. "I'm good Ms.Tiff." He laughed. "Boy, I used to party with your momma and your daddy. When you go home you tell Michelle I said hello." She exclaimed. "I know she told me. I'll make sure to tell her." He laughed. "Did you already wash your hair Jade." She asked taking my hair out of the curly ponytail I had put it into this morning. I nodded my head and she started on the first braid. "How long you want them?" She asked as she got to the bottom of the braid. "Mid-back." I replied laying back in the chair. She nodded her head and finished the braid. "Baby?" Quincy called from the chair next to me. "You want something to eat?" He asked getting up out the chair. I nodded my head and threw him my keys. "Whatchu want?" He asked standing in front of me. "Doesn't matter." I replied. "Alright I'll be back." He said pecking my lips before he walked out. "Aw y'all are too cute." She laughed. "Thanks Ma." I laughed shaking my head. As we continued talking I felt eyes burning a whole into the side of my face. I looked up and a girl was staring me right in my face. "You know her Jay?" She asked looking over my shoulder. "No but she bouta make me slap them eyes out her head." I said loud enough for her to hear. She rolled her eyes and looked away. I continued looking through "Sophisticate's Hair Magazine." It had Karyn Parsons, TLC , Toni Braxton and Janet Jackson on the cover.
*im aware that Jade is Janet. Jade is portrayed by Janet, they are not the same person. They have no similarities.
"That Janet is something ain't she?" She said looking at the magazine also. "Yes she is, she's soo pretty. Toni too." I said flipping the page. "That Toni can sing her ass off chile." Miss Margo an old woman that always comes in the shop said. "You like Toni Margo?" Ma asked laughing. "Yeah girl, what's that new one she got it say "just one night of moon light you there beside me." She sung. We all joined in "All night doing it again and again baby, you know I want you sooo bad." We all sung. "Baby,Baby,Baby." Quincy joined in walking through the door. All the women laughed and looked at him. "What? I like that song." He said throwing up his hands.
He walked up to me and passed me my food, A Ten-Piece nugget meal from McDonalds with large fries and a Sprite. "Thank you baby." I said poking my lips out so he could kiss them. "You welcome baby." He said kissing my lips. Everyone cooed and awed except the girl from earlier. Not like I gave a fuck she just seemed like she has a problem. A couple hours later and she's finally on the last braid. She dips them in hot water and then hot water and then she's done. "What you think Quincy?" She asked before letting me out the chair. "I like it , she looks pretty." He said smiling at me. "Go look at it." She said letting my chair down. I walked over to the mirror, joined by the two of them on the side of me. "I love it." I said running my fingers through it.

I grabbed my purse to get my wallet out , but Quincy moved my hand and put it back in my purse. He handed ma two hundred dollar bills. "Oh it's only $80." She said handing him back the second hundred. "I know, that's for you." He said closing it in her hand. "Jade, girl keep him. He a good one." Ms.Margo laughed. We both laughed and walked out. "You didn't have to that, I could have paid." I said blushing. "You don't pay for nothing when you with me." He said pulling me into a kiss. I smiled and got into the car. He's been so amazing today , he must have knew I was upset with him yesterday. "Can you take me home?"he asked as I started down the street. I nodded my head and made the left to goto his house. He got out of the car and came to the driver window. "What's wrong baby?" He said kissing my forehead. "I thought you were coming to my house." I said still pouting. "I'll be back later, I promise." He said kissing my forehead. I nodded my head and pulled off. My house is at the other end of the street, so instead of driving all the way to the end of the street, I made a right on side of Quincy's house and then a left onto the end of the street where my house is. I pulled into the DriveWay and got out. Steven and Tonya were sitting in the living room watching a movie. Well Tonya was, he was on the phone. "Actually, she just walked in." He said handing me the phone. I thought Tee was calling , so I hurriedly grabbed the phone and walked to my room. "Hello?" I said with a smile. "Is this Jade? Quincy's Girlfriend Jade?" A girl asked putting emphasis on the word "Girlfriend" "Yes it is." I said confused. "Who is this?" I asked in an unsure tone.
"This is Jennifer, and I'm fucking Quincy."
Those last three words pierced my ear like nails to a chalk board. She can't be serious, I don't believe it.
