when I was growing up,
I was always told to stand up for others
especially if they weren't there to stand up for themselves
because being a bystander was just as bad as being a bully
but I don't think that's true
now that I have grown
and I have learned
when you stand up to somebody else's bully
you never know if one day they will be yours too
and that's the worst part I think
or I worry that by standing up to a bully I will become a bully too
but that's not true
I've thought about what I said
about not knowing if the bully will soon become your demons too
is the worst part
but that's not true either
the worst part is when you can't help somebody escape their bully
because their demons are in their mind
or part of their family
that is the worst part
because you feel as helpless as they do
and you feel like you can't help them
