"California is the land of new opportunities. Chris eventually finished school and became a lawyer. I dropped out, but got a waitressing job when we got out there. Though our time was cut short. In 1985 at 38 years old Chris was stabbed in the throat in a restaurant and passed away. He had been trying to break up a fight. " I paused as I began to cry.
