"California is the land of new opportunities. Chris eventually finished school and became a lawyer. I dropped out, but got a waitressing job when we got out there. We stayed with James for about a year until we were able to save enough money to get an apartment. It wasn't always easy. It was actually really hard. No matter how hard it was though, we had one thing. Eachother. Chris never gave up on me and I never gave up on him. Four months after I turned eighteen we went down to a little chapel by where I went to elementary school. Katie, James, and Shane, came as our witnesses. Chris and I married on June 8th, 1969. Shortly after that I got pregnant with our only  child. Chance VT Chambers was born on March 17th 1970. We named him Chance VT because of Gordie, Vern, and Teddy. Chance coming from Gordie's last name LaChance. VT standing for Vern and Teddy. Chris was an amazing husband and father. I couldn't ask for anyone better to spend my life with. Though our time was cut short. In 1985 at 38 years old Chris was stabbed in the throat in a restaurant and passed away. He had been trying to break up a fight. " I paused as I began to cry.
