Chapter 31

Throughout the day of school, Isadora had been acting a bit weird. She barely talked and when she did, it was in a quiet voice. I tried asking her what was wrong, but she passed it off and said she was fine. I knew her to well, though.

I was at my locker after school when Isadora walked up to me. "Hey...." she said in quiet voice.

"Hey," I said. "Are you going to tell me what's bothering you now?"

Isadora sighed. "It's....it's a bit embarrassing."

"Come on, I'm not going to judge you," I said. "You know that, right?"

"I think I do," she said, wrapping her arms around herself. "It just....it feels weird because I don't remember our relationship."

       "What does?" I asked.

"Okay, last night, I had this dream," she said. "You and I were just friends then. And we went to this party over the weekend and kind of got drunk. Then we went back to your place and....Yeah."

"Wait," I said. "You....you had that dream?"

       "Yeah...."

I couldn't help but smiling. "Isadora, that wasn't a dream. That actually happened. That's how we got together!"

"So I actually remembered something?" Isadora asked. "I remembered something that my amnesia made me forget?"

"Yes," I said. "Yes! You remembered something!" I couldn't help but wrap my arms around her in a hug and spin her around. She remembered something very important about us. She was closer to remembering everything.

Isadora giggled as I spun her around. When I set her down, she pressed her lips on mine. When she pulled away, she gave me a smile. "I'm going to remember you, Dax," she said. "You can count on it."

"Want to come over to my house?" I asked. "That might help since you came over all the time."

"Okay," she said. "Let me just go tell my dad."

"I'll meet you in the parking lot," I said.

And since I didn't want to initiate any kissing, I tapped my finger against my cheek. Isadora rolled her eyes and quickly kissed my cheek before heading off to her dad's classroom.

I closed my locker and went to the parking lot. Seb was waiting by his car, leaning on the hood and continuously checked his watch. When he saw me, he immediately narrowed his eyes. "Thanks for taking forever," he said.

"Let me guess, Artemis got mad at you again?" I asked.

Seb sighed. "I made one mistake of leaving my glass on the table, and she started yelling at me."

"Did you yell back?" I asked.

"Not this time," he said. "I just left to pick you up."

"Better than not yelling," I said. "But you still should have calmed her down. I bet you anything when we get home, she'll be ignoring you."

"I wouldn't doubt it," Seb said. "She just irritates me so mad when she gets mad for no reason. Let's just get in the car."

"Not yet," I said. "Isadora's coming over."

"Fine," he said with a sigh. "How is everything going with her, by the way?"

"A lot better," I said. "She had a dream of something that actually happened between us, so she's getting closer to remembering everything."
