As Remus went to board the Hogwarts Express for the first time, his father gave him a calendar; a calendar that depicted the cycle of a moon and a note that said Just in case. Remus kept it with him at all times but never showed it to anyone - not even the other Marauders. He always knew at which point in the cycle the Moon was. Every time it was a new moon, Remus would lie awake staring out of the window revelling in the absolute blackness of the night, it was too often he saw a shining light in the sky.
