James and Sirius worked out Remus was a werewolf after three full moons and, consequently spent nights in the library looking for a cure which led to them sleeping in lessons. A lot of people, including Lily, thought they were lazy because of this. In their second year they gave up and told Remus they knew. Peter hadn't worked it out and was very angry for a while; this is when he first started thinking about Dark Arts.
