Prologue
I was 6 y/o when my parents died from plane crash. And I have no one to take care of me. Except for my nanny Silva who was kind enough to deliver me to DSWD. She told me to stay there temporarily while she seeks help . I had no idea what kind of help she sought.
I waited for her and 1 month had passed, no nanny Silva appeared. I cried every night, missing my mommy and daddy so much and nanny too. I'm alone. No one talked to me 'coz I just ignore them. I don't have the appetite to be friends with anyone. It's useless...
Until one day, a group of naughty kids picked on me. They get my favorite bugs bunny from me and passed it unto others.
"Give it back!" I shouted teary eyed.
"Uy! inglesera pala tong iyakin na'to! Ahahahaha!!" they all laugh at me.
I tried to get my bunny but they're taller than me.
"Give it back!" I said again and now i'm crying.
"Ahahahahaha!! Iyakin! Iyakin! Uhog mo oh tumutulo na! Ahahahaha!!" then they burst out laughing again.
I cried and cried until I heard someone said in a serious voice "Ibigay niyo na yan sa kanya"
Napalingon kami sa nagsalita. There's a boy standing before us. He's about our age or a year older maybe.
Is he new here? But he doesn't seem like one of us.
"Bakit? Sino ka ba ha?? Ngayon ka lang namin nakita dito ah. Kung bago ka lang dito mas mabuti pang wag mo na kaming pakialaman."
"Just give back that stuff toy to her. Ayokong makitang umiiyak ang kapatid ko"
HANU DAWH?? For all I know I have no siblings.
I am the only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Añola.
"Hah! Nagpapatawa ka ba?? Eh wala na nga yang magulang eh!" sabay tawa nilang lahat.
"Quiet boys!" may dumating na isa sa mga tagapangalaga at may kasama siyang babae at lalake. Parang mag-asawa.
Tumahimik naman sila.
Takot sa parusa. Matindi kasi parusa dito para sa mga batang pasaway.
Lumapit sa'kin yung tagapangalaga.
"Bridgette, may kukuha na sa iyo. Simula ngayon sila na ang mga magulang mo." nakangiti niyang sabi sa akin.
Lumingon ako sa likuran niya at nakita kong ngumiti din ang mag-asawa sa akin.
"At ako naman ang kuya mo!" proud namang sabi nung batang lalaki na nagtanggol sa'kin kanina. Inakbayan niya ako at ibinigay sa'kin si bunny.
At first, parang di ko gustong sumama sa kanila.
Di naman sila nakakatakot, makikita mo naman na mababait sila.
But... when I saw this boy's sincere and honest eyes, I felt comfort and I felt home... that says I belong...
