Ashley's P.O.V.

"So what do we do?" I asked. "Are we just..done?"

"Well" he said. "If we could be apart for 5 years, I'm sure we could just do this for good."

"But I-" I choked back tears. "I just..I thought maybe there was a purpose to us finding each other like this again..you know? Like, it's not a normal thing to just find each other again..."

"If we're meant to be together, we'll be together" he said, shrugging like it was no big deal.

"Are you..are you kidding me?" I asked.

"What?"

"You're just gonna let everything get thrown away" I said.

"Well..." He trailed off. "It just seems like it's for the best, and-"

"You know what? Fine."

"Huh?"

"I need to think, okay?" I snapped, walking out of the cabin without even looking at him.

As I walked onto the streets of L.A., I closed my eyes and inhaled then exhaled. How could he do this? He's just gonna sit back and let everything go? It's like he isn't even trying.

I'm such an idiot for even thinking he'd mature. You'd think he would after all these years.

As I walked down the sidewalk, I was surprised to see Calum leaning against a building on his phone. I stormed up to him.

"What the hell Calum?" I asked. He slowly put his phone down and jumped up a little when he saw me.

"Well good to see you too Ashley...?" He replied as though he was confused.

"What the hell are you trying to accomplish Calum?"

"Can you please explain to me why you're yelling at me and what exactly I did?" He said.

"You know what you did. I just wanna know why."

"I seriously don't know what's going on!" He exclaimed.

I explained everything that Michael told me, but Calum's face just scrunched up.

"I have no idea what you're talking about" he said.

"Calum" I warned.

"I don't!" He exclaimed. It's just that...he seemed genuine about it.

"Why would Michael be making this up then?"

"I don't know... I mean, I have an assumption but...." He trailed off.

"Tell me" I said.

"It just seems like he's making this up because he needs a reason to break up with you." He shrugged.

"But...why would he want to break up with me? He was the one who wanted to get back together, I thought...?" I said.

"Well," Calum started. "Guys have a weird way of doing things. I guess he didn't want to seem like the bad guy, so he made something up so you'd feel bad."

"Are guys really that evil?"

"Yes, honestly" he replied.

"I hate guys so much" I huffed, plopping down on the sidewalk with my head in my hands.

"We aren't all that bad" he said, sitting beside me and giving me a sympathetic smile.

"Well you're idiots" I said.

"I know" Calum replied. He must've heard something in my voice that told him I was on the edge of crying because he wrapped an arm around me. I rested my head on his shoulder.

"I thought Michael would've matured by now. I mean, we're in our 20s. It just seems like we're still playing these games."

"Well..some people are just like this" Calum said. "People aren't ready for a relationship because they're still trying to figure out their own lives. Are you ready for a relationship?"

"I just got out of a really bad break up" I said, pursing my lips. "I was supposed to marry a certain guy, but he cheated on me..and then this whole situation with Michael..." And that's when I broke down crying. I just let it out.

Calum wrapped an arm around me, rubbing my shoulder.

"Shhh" he whispered. "Let it out. It'll be okay."

"What if it isn't? What if I end up alone?"

"There's no way you're ever gonna end up alone" Calum replied. "That's one thing I can promise you." I looked up at him smiling, and he wiped my tears away.
