Ruby's Point Of View

I'd been texting my brother all day, he told me he felt bad about lying to Kaylee but honestly, I know it's wrong but he needs to in order for this plan to work.

This plan....ugh, it's so confusing and messed up I barely know what I'm doing/what to do. I had a slight idea of what I wanted, but my plans have never really worked. I really want Roach out of prison, I really like him. He's changed since all those years ago, he's all grown up and handsome, not to mention fun to be around.

On the other hand I'm afraid to get close to anyone. I don't want them to find out who I really am. An ex-convict....

"Hey, you good? You seem out of it." Kaylee's voice shatters my thoughts. My head snapped to the side to face her, which then I flashed her my winner fake smile. She buys it and smiles back, briefly hugging me.

"Hi, yeah I'm fine." I reply, tensely hugging back. She pulls away and giggles.

"You shoulda seen Pete chew Rita and my sister out today." She states, then her smile fades and she punches my arm.

"Ow! What the heck?!" I exclaim, rubbing my arm.

"You got me in trouble." She scowls, putting her hands on her hips.

"What?? What did I do?" I frown back.

"Remember how you embarrassed Rita yesterday?! Yeah....well she now hates both of us. Me, because I was present and your friend."

I can't contain a chuckle, which she just frowns harder at me. "What's so funny?"

"How is that not funny to you? That just proves that they're both psycho!"

Her face softens until she's laughing too. "This isn't funny."

"Then why are we laughing?"

"Cos we're nuts too." She laughs.

"So what about Peter earlier?" I inquire as we walk to our next class.

"Oh man he totally flipped! He yelled and swore at her like nobodies business, it was amazing." She grins, her cheeks turning red as she hugs her books tighter. Aw, she likes my big brother. It's kind of adorable, but then my smile fades. Is she gonna hate him when she finds out he's lying to her?? Oh man.....this is not good. I don't want to destroy what could happen between my best friend and my brother, but I really want Roach out of prison.

What do I do.....

Kaylee's Pov

"Here, hold this, I need to use the restroom." Ruby sighs, scooting her phone over to me before getting up and leaving. Oooo perfect! I can now hack her. With a sly smile, I pick up the phone and see there's a pass code.

Hmm, let's think about this....she changes it every day, and there's a pattern I've noticed. She goes by the different dates her family members were born, and since she just reunited with Peter she probably was thinking of him when she redid it.

Aha!! I was right!! My grin goes from ear to ear as it lets me in, but then I see she has a conversation between her and Peter up. I decide not to read it until my eyes find my name in one of the messages. Uh-oh, what did I do now? Then I find this.

I hate lying to her Rubes -Pete

My eyebrows knit together as I continue reading about how they want to use me. WHAT THE HECK??? What kind of a sick joke is this?? Tears build in my eyes as I turn the phone back off and set it down.

Ruby comes back and notices that I'm crying before looking around. "Did Rita pick on you again?" She growls.

"Like you would care!" I yell, standing up abruptly, all the rage inside of me exploding. She just stares at me in surprise.

"You never cared!! You just want to use me to get Roach out of jail you selfish jerk!!"

"Kaylee calm down!" She yells over me.

"No!" I scream, slamming the table with my fist. That shut her up. "I don't ever want you near me again." I finish before storming out of the cafeteria with students staring at me and Ruby.

As I fast walk through the hall, Pete looks at me on surprise and grabs my arm gently.

"You ok Kaylee?"

Yanking away, I slap him hard in the face. He holds his hand to his face as his eyes widen.

"Don't even start!! I never want to see you again! You or Ruby! I hate you!" I cry before running out, leaving a very stunned Peter behind.
