♠ roach's point of view ♠
I do things differently, if you can't tell. Also, my name isn't so cliche either. Not that I care about what you think but what I do care about is getting this done on time so that I can get on with my life. Here I am in school doing what you ask? Well I am making a computer for a senior bully who is paying me seventy-five dollars. Sure it should be around five hundred to a thousand dollars but you know, I value my face.
"You done yet, Roach?"
Let me explain to you three things. First, I am a dude. Second, yes my name is Roach. It's a nickname given by my drunken father, and lastly, I am a geek. Not a nerd! A geek! Those two are completely different if you didn't know. Anyways, back to the story. I am actually in the auditorium putting this computer together. I am sneaking out of class just for this jerk. Sure I can possibly get suspended from school since this is my tenth time this year skipping class but I am smarter than any kid here. Although there is a nerd here that would disagree with me.
"Nearly. Just need to put in the circuit and put everything together and pray it works," I mumbled to him. I mumble when I am hard at work but of course he didn't like that. Out of the corner of my eye I saw him tightening up his fists. I looked up at him and pushed my glasses up the bridge of my nose.
"First," I said smirking, "I wouldn't do that if I were you, remember? I am a rich boy." I winked at the guy and he growled at that. Yes, I am a rich boy. My best friends were in a band, my father owned this school plus many others, my mother was a famous surgeon and my uncle was the founder of a very famous British band. My family was very loved by a lot of towns and a lot of states. Heck, my father even ran for mayor. The only reason why he didn't win was because he chose his family over the election and the two accepted that and made him treasurer for a few years.
What I am getting at is if Mr. Popular decides to hit him, I can have him arrested in a heartbeat.
"Second, if you give me," I looked at the clock and started to think about a great time to get this stupid thing done, "Probably two hours I will have it done and working, chap. Alright? Alright, good, see you later,"
I went back to work getting the screws all in the right places, the small torch incisions that I had to do and of course the wires. God the wires! Anyways, Mr. Popular left for me to do my job. I loved my job. I got accepted into Ohio State University. It was my one ticket out of here. Sure my father was a very popular man but when he was home and drunk, he was a monster. I have been physically and mentally abused but that just made me stronger and also a lot smarter. Instead of cutting, which had stopped doing when I was probably fifteen, I put my nose into books. I had a fascination with computers so I started to take mine apart and learn everything about them.
I am now seventeen and already graduating. I was able to skip a grade in school, scored amazingly in my ACT and my SAT's and also my college preparation tests. I worked hard to get to where I am now. Others didn't like it, one of them being Kaylee. Kaylee was a girl that I had been in love with for God know's how long. Her friend was a nerd named Kaylee. She was a cute nerds but hated geeks. I don't know why but I find it quite amusing.
Even though I was a geek, I was a romantic. I saw the woman as a piece of art and a way of God making us less alone. Isn't that why He created Eve to begin with? Yes, I am a computer-science-loving-christian-wizkid. I am proud to be myself.
When those two hours were up, the laptop was done! I was able to boot it up and get things running properly and right on time comes Mr. Popular and his gang.
"Is it done?" He grumbles. If I said no I was going to get a face pounding.
"Yup." I got to my feet and handed it to him, "There you are. Best gaming laptop ever invented. Already has the top games of the internet downloaded onto it, also has top of the notch anti-virus protection." I gave him a small smile and he thanked me.
Never handing me my money.
"Excuse me!" I came to him and tapped his shoulder. I wasn't scared of them. I had been hurt so many times that I had given up being hurt by them, "Money?"
"Oh right," He said looking to his friends and that's when his fist came in contact with my cheek.
"Thanks," I mumbled, God my jaw was aching. But I was still on my feet. Which wasn't the best idea of my life. His friends started to wail on me. So I got to lunch with cuts and bruises on my face and my body aching again. Like my father hadn't done enough damage as is.
