"Your sister is a jerk," I muttered. I was walking Kaylee to the nurses station and her sister had just been bullying her, not only her but her friends. Poor Kaylee can't see, and I didn't know her locker combination or anything.
"I know but," She shrugged, "She's my sister. You...know how that is." She says slowly. I glare daggers at her and stepped in front of her, putting my hand against her shoulder.
"Don't ever, ever tell anyone about her. You hear me?" I was being stern with her and that phased her. I watched her flinch. She cowered while standing there and I could only sigh. It was the family curse that we had. My sister and I weren't the best people and it was better that this nerd wasn't around me. I shook my head and pinched the bridge of my nose. Ruby had a plan and I needed Kaylee for that plan. I knew that I was using her but I didn't feel bad about it. Should I?
"I'm sorry," I whispered, "Just...it's important you don't say anything sweetie," I explained to her and quickly got her to the nurse's office. She gave me a weary smile and I sighed and grabbed my phone out of my pocket while I headed back to class.
I hate lying to her Rube --Peter
I know brother but you need to, it's for the best. --Ruby
You have any idea what are you doing? --Peter
Kind of, just need to talk to Roach. --Ruby
Alright, next time he calls I'll give him your number. Going back to class. Love you. --Peter
Love you too :) --Ruby
I smiled and shoved my phone back into my pocket. I needed my best friend out of prison and we actually had no idea how we were going to do that. We need to get him out before the government comes flying into my front yard demanding that we give the laptop to them, which can very well happen.

"You want me to what?"
"Yeah," He jumps off of the top bunk and grabs my shoulders, "We need to do this man! I have a job lined up for the both of us."
"What kind of job?" I asked raising an eyebrow at him.
"The government man," he said with wide eyes. I knew that my roommate was kind of crazy but he was also kind of making me interested. I had always wanted to work for the government besides, if it was a job and I was willing to take it. It's not every day they are going to take a prisoner to work on something. Maybe they will see how good I am with computers and get me out of this hell hole. The guy kept telling me about this plan that he had. He had a friend who worked for this secret government thing in Turkey, said that it was a place underground where they permit experiments.
"They only find the best of the best," he told me. That got me to thinking about the computer chip that I had stolen from that abandoned building. That chip was why I was in jail, amongst other things. It was an abandoned building so why did it matter so much? Besides, maybe I can get out of here because of my lawyer. I pray at least. The deal wasn't sealed. I had a week before I would go and see the court system again and in that week's time I am hoping that my lawyer could pull something out of his butt. I didn't care what it was. Just something so I can get out of here.
So eventually I went to go and collect my phone call for the day. I knew that it was still school but it was ending and I was going to call Peter and see what has been happening to him.
"Thank God you called, Roach. We have a few problems here." I heard doors slam and lock, he probably just locked himself in his car.
"What's up?" I asked him.
"Mr. Popular gave back the laptop. Dude its showing a bunch of codes and I can't find the backdoor. I can't break it."
"Good, my lawyer has a weeks time to get me out of here."
"Thank God," Peter sighed with relief.
"Why?"
"Ruby's back," he whispered.I nearly dropped the phone. I didn't know it was that Ruby. I groaned and palmed my face. Ruby and I go way back. I didn't know it was her though. We were friends when we were younger but when she turned into this weird person, we stopped being friends. I moved away and we stopped talking. Her brother moved a few years later and we had been best friends since then. She really let herself go too but dang, she was so beautiful and amazing. Too bad I was already in love with someone. Maybe I should let Kaylee go. I didn't have a shot with her.
"She was going to come and get you out," Peter explained. This shocked me.
"Really?"
"Yeah man, she likes you."
"Yeah," I said slowly and rubbed the back of my neck. Soon the subject changed. I didn't have long but I told him about what had happened with the laptop and were I had taken it from. Peter thought it was weird and agreed that he would go and check it out.
"Alright, see ya man," I gave a smile and hung up the phone.
Something was definitely up.
