Poem #82// Strings

If you want to break,
You're on your own.
I'm no longer yours to take.
I'm not a fragile piece of glass.
You break alone.

If you want to cry,
You weep alone.
I'm no longer going to die.
I'm not a tear for you to wipe away.
You cry on your own.

If you want to leave,
You're on your own.
I no longer wear my heart on my sleeve.
I'm not something you can take away.
You leave alone.

If you want to die,
You hurt alone.
I'm no longer the one to leave behind.
I'm not the one in trouble.
You go down your own.

If you want to go down,
You die on your own.
I'm no longer going to drown.
I'm not the one attached to strings,
You sink alone.

If you want to love,
You love alone.
I'm no longer another stepping stone.
I'm not the one who's lying.
You're own your own.

If you want to play games,
You play on your own.
I'm no longer a pawn.
I'm not the loser.
You lose alone.

You aren't in control
And you never will be.
For I've learned that you can never love me
In the way that love is supposed to be.
