Poem #67// Mirror

You crack the mirror
To avoid the stares.
But you forget that
You are the one standing there.

You try to fix yourself,
But you only break yourself more.
You tell yourself it's the other's faults.
But you know the problem is you
And it's hard to repair.

You avoid the sharp shards
To prevent yourself from being cut.
But you forget that
You are the one who broke the glass.

You try to clean yourself up
And wash away the blood,
But you only make a bigger mess.
You tell yourself it was an accident,
But you know that you lost control.

You silence yourself
To get rid of the voices.
But you forget that
They come crawling back.

You try to communicate
And show that you're still okay.
You laugh too loud and smile too often.
But it only makes them worry less
And you worry more.

You drown out the world
To get rid of everything.
But you forget that
When you block out them,
You block out yourself too
