So this is a poem I have written for my English class that I would like to share since it is more of my regular poetry style. And I just wanted to share it because a poem is a poem :) So what is a villanelle? Well, a villanelle is a poem with five tercets (stanzas), each containing three lines. The poem's rhyme scheme for each stanza is ABA except for the last stanza (that's ABAA). Did I mention that each line has to be exactly ten syllables as well? Writing that part was a little hard. So here's my villanelle poem. Enjoy.
p.s- Ignore the letters at the front of each line. Those are just there to help me with my rhyme scheme and I'm too lazy to take them out since it's 9:17 at night :D

A* The memories crashed in like ocean waves.
B There are standards in life that we can't meet.
A^ It's the affection from others we crave.
A The walls close in. They're ready to concave.
B In life, society helps you to cheat.
A* The memories crashed in like ocean waves.
A Take a stand in the world, start to feel brave.
B Sometimes the world leaves us broken and beat.
A^ It's the affection from others we crave.
A It's like I'm starting to dig my own grave.
B We need to stand, and bounce back on our feet.
A* The memories crashed in like ocean waves.
A The things that we see are not all the rave.
B They leave a taste in your mouth; bittersweet.
A^ It's the affection from others we crave.
A You aren't the liar for they are the knave.
B Never reaching standards, it's repeating.
A* The memories crashed in like ocean waves.
A^ It's the affection from others we crave.
