Poem #76// Scraps

35 3 2

Waste me, use me, & abuse me.
Like a cigarette
I sucked you in.
But then we burnt out.
And I was left with toxins.

Hurt me, scar me, & ignore me.
Like a first place ribbon
I cherished you.
But then we came in last.
And that ribbon meant nothing.

Blame me, shame me, & degrade me.
Like a piece of art
I admired you.
But then we drew over each other.
And now the picture's worthless.

Play me, outdo me, lie to me.
Like a game of chess
I was winning.
But then we lost our crowns.
And you knocked my king off the throne.

Love me, show me, be kind to me.
Like a fairytale
I was happy.
But then you erased me.
And I was left like scraps.

Love me, hate me, you will never break me.
Hurt me, blame me, you will never play me.
Waste me, shame me, you won't control me.

It hurts now & the pain doesn't end.
But that's why they say,
"What doesn't kill you
Makes you stronger."
