Ezra POV

My father came into view. "The damn thing is on? You would think that I could finally work with this stupid machine after all these years."

He finally found out the thing was on and I could see him. "Ha! Finally! I thought that Ezra this time really destroyed it."

I had to laugh while remembering all the times that I had thrown something or had done something with that thing.

"Mira! Can you come down!?"He shouted upward.

"I am coming! Ezra goddammit! Go with Mister Sumar!" I heard my mother scream. She always had the habit of swearing easily.

My mother came down the ladder. "You know that son of ours never listens."

"Just like his mother." Grinned my father. When my mother threw him an angry look, he stopped. "Come on, I want to have this behind us." She said as she sat next to my father.

"So good." Began my father. "Hey Ezra. We told Tseebo that he had to let you see this as we well..." He hesitated, looked at my mother and when she nodded, he continued. "are gone."

"Lately, the empire appears to really want to find us." My mother went on. "It seems they come along today. That's what a friend of ours who works there, heard anyway." She held a short break. "We are going to surrender."

"I know what you think of us now: cowards" said my father. "But we will always continue to fight for those who can't."

Mom got tears in her eyes. "We do this for you sweetheart. We don't want to give you a life full of hiding and fleeing. Also, we do not want the Empire to find you. If they find out that..." she bit her lip.

"You're Force-sensitive." My father completed her sentence.

"Ephraim! As if he would know what that means! "

My father rolled his eyes. "You don't give me the chance to explain it. I just wanted to do that."

Now it was my mother's turn to roll her teary eyes.

"The Force is what connects everything and it is strong in you, son. You remember probably the stories about the Jedi. However, that's what you maybe can be one day. "

My father put his arm around my mother's shoulder and pulled her closer to him. They laughed at me.

Only the smile was sad.

"Make us proud son." Said my father.

"And know that we are already and always will be." Filled my mother.

They wanted to say something when from upstairs there could be heard a knock on the door. "This is the empire! Open up or we will get in by force! "

My mother looked scared at my father. "They must not destroy or find this recording!"

He hugged her. "We will go upstairs to surrender and then they won't find it."

They turned back to the device. "We love you darling."

My father pressed a button, but it did not stop recording. I saw them go up and then heard a lot of commotion and I even heard my mother screaming. Then it was suddenly silent. For a long time. Almost creepy.
