Heroes of Olympus (Characters x Reader)

Second choice

"Is that all you got?" Percy taunted as he deflected another attack. It was just another day of training in the sword arena. I had asked Percy if he could help me train today, and so far, he is deflecting each one of my attacks.

"Dam you Percy, can't you let me hit you, just once?"

"No can do. Otherwise you wouldn't be able to improve. Come on (Name), you can do it." I swung my sword at him again, only to have it bounce of his. I swung at him again and again, only to have them all bounce off his sword. "(Name), stop." I looked at Percy and saw that there was a hint of concern in his eyes as he looked at me. I hung my head and dropped my arm to my side, letting go of my weapon in the process.

"What is wrong with me? I know I'm better than this." I said.

"Hey, are you alright? What's going on?" Percy said as he placed his hand on my shoulder.

"Remember when we played Capture the Flag?"

"Yeah. Did something happen?"

"Well..."

Flashback

I prepared my sword and waited. Everything around me was silent, not a sound could be heard. I held my breath as I tried to pinpoint where exactly the boys might be. Suddenly, I felt the presence of someone behind me. Before I could say anything, I felt their breath on my neck. I let out a gasp as a shiver went down my spine. I clutched my sword tighter and turned around, ready to attack whoever it may be. However, I stood still as I saw who it was.

"Hello (Name)." Luke said as Nico stood beside him.

"H-Hey Luke, h-hey Nico." I stuttered.

"You seem a bit jumpy. Did I do something wrong?" A blush took over my face when I realised that it was Nico who breathed down my neck and all I could do was look at him in shock. "What's the matter (Name)?"

"Seriously Nico, you shocked her, that's what you did." Luke said.

"Alright then, what would you have done?"

"Oh Nico, don't you know? To get her attention, you have to do something like this." Luke said as he walked up behind me, placed his hands around my waist and placed his head on my shoulder, slowly breathing on my neck while inhaling my scent. Another shiver went down my spine. I was completely speechless.

"See, now you've gone and done it." Nico said. Before Luke said anything else, Nico walked up to me and kissed me on the cheek. By now, my face was redder than a tomato. Luke must've decided to stop hugging me because he started to remove his hands off me. Before I could ask what he was doing, he did the exact same thing as Nico, only on the opposite side, and kissed me on the cheek.

"W-What are y-you two doing?" I asked as best as I could.

"We're just showing you how much you mean to us." Luke said.

"I-In the middle of C-Capture the F-Flag." I mentally scolded myself for stuttering.

"Oh come on (Name), don't tell me you didn't like it." Once again, I was shocked.

"W-What?"

"We know you like both of us."

"Huh?"

"Truthfully, we like you to." Nico said.

"W-What?"

"You heard me, we both like you, and we have for a while now."

"Because we both like you, you need to make a choice." Luke said.

"A choice?" I said as I looked between Nico and Luke.

"Yeah, a choice, for who it's going to be. You may or may not be aware of this, but we don't like sharing what's ours. So, you need to make a decision." Luke said.

"But, I can't decide who." I felt conflicted. My heart is torn in two, one part wants to be with Luke, whereas the other wants to be with Nico.

"No matter who you choose, just know that there will be no hard feelings. We just want you to be happy, since you're important to us and we don't want to hurt you." Nico said.

"All we want is for you to be happy." Luke concluded as I stood there in silence, thinking about who I truly want to be with. But, no matter how hard I thought about it, I couldn't decide.

"It's too hard, I can't decide. I like the both of you and I don't want to lose either of you." I hung my head and looked to the ground. Suddenly interested in my shoes. Nico walked over to me and grabbed my hands, lacing our fingers together.

"(Name), no matter who you choose, we will always stay by your side. We promise you that." I looked between Nico and Luke and after a while, I took a deep breath and said,

"Alright, I choose..."

End of flashback

"Oh man, that's rough."

"Yeah."

"Did you eventually choose one of them?"

"Yeah, I did."

"Then why are you so distracted to the point that it affects your training?"

"I guess I'm still stressed from it all."

"How about this, why don't we stop for today and you have time to yourself for the rest of the day? You look like you could use it."

"Are you sure?

"Yeah."

"Alright. Thanks Percy." I waved goodbye and left the area, making my way to who knows where. Not too long later, I found myself making my way to the forest, wanting to just lose myself in the trees. After wondering around for some time, thankfully not running into any monsters, I happened to stumble upon a river. The water was crystal clear and a slight breeze happened to pass through. I walked over to the tree that was closest to the water and sat down, leaning my back against it. Once I sat down, I leaned my head back and closed my eyes, listening to the sound of the river.

"Well, look who we have here." Someone said after some time. A smile graced upon my face as I recognised his voice.

"Fancy meeting you here, in such an isolated place full of shadows." I said.

"What can I say, I belong in the shadows." I got up from the tree and walked over to him, wrapping my hands around his neck as he placed his around my waist.

"Maybe, but you also belong with me."

"Oh really now?" I could sense the teasing tone in his voice.

"Yes, you're mine and no one else's."

"I admit, I like the sound of that." I placed my lips upon his, kissing him softly. He responded almost instantly and removed his hands from around my waist, placing one on the back of my neck and the other caressing my cheek as he deepened the kiss. When the kiss was over, he placed his forehead on mine, gazing into my e/c eyes. "How did I get so lucky?"

"I think I'm the lucky one. I have an amazing boyfriend, no one could ever compare to you."

"I just..." He suddenly stopped talking and I looked at him in worry.

"What's wrong?"

"I feel as if I don't deserve you. I mean, you could have chosen someone else, yet you chose me. The guy who belongs in the shadows, is pretty anti-social, who prefers to be alone most of the time. I just can't believe that you looked past all my flaws, accepted me for who I am and chose me."

"Why would I deny the one my heart wants? You're the one I want to be with, and that's never going to change. I don't care about your flaws, I look past that and see someone who is lonely, who needs someone there for them, who needs someone to love."

"Thank you (Name), for everything."

"For you Nico, I would go to the ends of the Earth."
