"Want another hot dog?" Levi asked, pointing to the grill with a pair of tongs.
"No thank you." I declined and a couple of the guys smirked. Fucking pigs.
The sun was going down and it was getting a bit chilly. The boys were working on starting a fire but they weren't moving fast enough. Goose bumps were popping up all over me.
I leaned against the fence watching everybody talking and drinking. Some of these girls were acting so easy. I have a small past of being known as a flirt and what not, but these girls were practically rubbing their chest in the guy's faces. It just seems sloppy to me.
I've been with two guys in the past three years, both of which had to work incredulously hard to prove themselves to me. I couldn't imagine just giving in due to a few drinks, and an inviting atmosphere.
A cool breeze came through, causing me to vigorously rub my arms the best I could without spilling my drink. I couldn't put my t-shirt back on because one of the boys got it soaking wet, and I really wonder if it was actually an accident like the boy claimed.
"Hey." I looked to my left. Brett was leaning up against the fence next to me.
Instantly I felt nervous because of the last time we talked, and because of whatever that was in the kitchen earlier today.
"Hi." I said softly, taking a sip of my beer. I'm not much of a drinker, and I usually only have one or two, but this moment was telling me that I'd soon need a third.
"What's going on?"
"Attending a drunken barbecue, you?" I forced a laugh.
"Same." He shrugged. I think he's had a bit more to drink than me, and probably more than he thinks he's had. I'm judging this by the slight sway in his posture and the spaced out look in his eyes. "You look cold." He turned to me.
"That's probably because I am." I stared off at the other guests, trying to avoid him.
"Here." My attention turned to Brett who shrugged off his hoodie and handed it to me.
"It's alright." I tried to decline the offer.
"I insist." He threw it over my shoulder.
I rolled my eyes at him and handed him my drink so that I could put it on. It hung down to my knees due to his muscular size and tall height.
"Cute." He laughed at me.
I gave him a slight smile, not really feeling humored.
"Why aren't you over there?" He nodded his head towards the now roaring fire.
"Don't feel like hanging around man whores and hussies." I smirked.
"Ouch."
"It's only the truth." I tossed my cup in the grass and headed for the house. We'll clean up in the morning anyways.
Levi caught my attention. He managed to flip over his chair and everyone was laughing.
Okay, more like I'll clean up in the morning. Levi is obviously trashed and will be dead to the world tomorrow.
What did he do when I wasn't around to clean up after him? This house would no doubt be a pig sty without me.
"Where are you going?" Brett jogged up besides me.
"Well, I was going to make a smore, but the fire is a little crowded, so I'm going to bed."
Brett hopped in front of me. "Don't be a party pooper." He pouted and took my hands in his. I looked down and shook them free.
"Sorry." I muttered and walked around him, through the kitchen, and into the living room.
I grabbed the stair railing and Brett once again popped up by my side, following me up the stairs.
When I reached my bedroom door, I turned around and looked up at him. "Seriously, what the fuck do you want?" I was beginning to get irritated.
In one swift motion his hands cupped my cheeks and he bent over for his face to meet mine. Our lips met and I was frozen in place. His kiss was soft and gentle, and lingered for a few seconds before he pulled away.
Like any girl, I was left with a few swarms of butterflies but they quickly flew off.
I took a breath of air and allowed my senses to come through for me. "You're drunk." I pushed him back and pulled off his sweatshirt. "If that's what you want, go find one of those girls outside." I shoved the hoodie into his chest.
"Whitney, I'm-"
I held one hand up to him, telling him to stop, and put my other hand up to my forehead, shaking my head slightly, "You're Levi's best friend. You need to learn your boundaries." I turned into my room and slammed the door in his face, leaving him out in the hall.
When I woke up, I had an immense headache. I didn't even have that much to drink but I'm not supposed to drink alcohol within a couple days of taking any of my pills. My doctor would be pissed if he found this out.
I reached to my side table, searching for my glasses. I don't usually wear them. They're a small prescription, and sometimes my eyes just feel slightly strained so then I'll wear them.
My hand found something but it wasn't my glasses.
I lifted my hand to find a gooey mess. There was a smore mushed to my table, and partially to my glasses.
Did he seriously go make me a fucking smore and put it in here?
Better question, why didn't I lock my door last night?
I slipped on my flip flops and hobbled outside in my pajama shorts and tank top. It was still early in the morning, and the breeze was a little nippy.
I started walking around the yard, picking up trash, and tucking it into a garbage bag. Man, these people were messy. It looks like a hurricane came through, literally.
Half of the pool water was all over the yard because of the idiots doing cannon balls off the ladder. Who does a cannon ball in a five foot deep pool anyways?
Drunk twenty somethings, that's who.
