"So do you like Erik or Charles now? I'm confused." Raven asked as we walked down the hallway to go outside to the radar installation because Hank had built something that could help us find more mutants to help us.

"What? I don't like Erik." I said confused.

"But you do like Charles?" She questioned. "You didn't deny it."

"Maybe a little. So what? I'm a big girl." I said shoving her playfully and putting my head on her shoulder as we walked.

"I'm pretty sure he likes you too. I've lived with him for so long and I've never seen him look at anyone the way he looks at you." She explained. "But what's going on with you and Erik?"

I sighed. "Nothing is going on between Erik and I. I saved him, that's the closest we've ever been to each other. He's probably plotting to kill me in his mind as we speak. Who knows? No one's seen him since yesterday."

"Oh he was with Charles this morning. I'm certain he's not plotting to kill you, Beth. You're over reacting because he's intimidating. Don't let him get to you." Raven answered giving my shoulder a squeeze. "You'll be fine."

--

"I uh... I call it Cerebro.." Hank said gesturing to the machine Charles would be using in a few moments. "As in Spanish for brain..."

Charles nodded while smiling. "Yes."

"Okay, so, uh, the electrodes connect Charles to the transmitter on the roof. When he picks up a..." Hank paused to clear his throat awkwardly. "Mutant, his brain sends a signal through a relay, and then the coordinates of their location are printed out here."

Raven looked intrigued and I could tell that she liked Hank. A lot. "You designed this?" She asked.

Hank smiled and blushed a little. "Yeah."

Charles then put Cerebro on his head and Erik stepped up behind me and stood to my right. "What an adorable lab rat you make, Charles." He said smirking.

Charles sighed. "Please don't ruin this for me, Erik."

"Oh, I've been a lab rat. I know one when I see one." Erik explained.

I looked at him confused. What did he mean by that...?

"Okay, great." Hank interrupted while adjusting Cerebro on Charles's head. "Are you sure we can't shave your head?"

"Don't touch my hair." Charles ordered and I couldn't help but laugh a little, getting a side glance from Erik.

"Okay, it's working!" Hank announced excitedly.

Charles chuckled and I smiled. This was absolutely amazing.

--

Charles and Erik had already recruited two people, a girl named Angel and a man named Darwin. Angel could fly and spit some sort of acid while Darwin could adapt to survive.

When Hank read the name of the next person they were getting, my heart leaped and I insisted on going. Neither Erik nor Charles denied my request as I begged and pleaded. They must know what it's like to care so much about someone and have them leave. What am I saying? Of course they do...

"What the hell does the government want with a guy like Alex Summers?" The guard asked us as we walked towards the cell.

I scowled. "Watch your mouth." I spat at the man.

He looked at me confused before continuing. "Hope you're not planning on putting him with others. First guy I've ever met who actually prefers solitary confinement." He then opened the door and I could have sworn my whole world stopped.

Alex quickly stood from his seat by the wall when he saw me and I couldn't help but run in and hug him.

He held me tightly and picked me up, burying his face into my hair.

"Miss me, Alex?" I asked, my voice slightly muffled by his shoulder.

"You wish." He chuckled while hugging me tighter and smiling. "What are you doing here?"

I let go of him and looked behind my shoulder to Erik and Charles who were surprisingly both smiling. "These two can explain it to you." I said before hugging him once more.

I decided to go on the last recruit mission and I scrunched my nose when I saw we had arrived at a run down pub.

The three of us walked up to a man who was smoking a cigar and we leaned on the counter.

"I'm Charles Xavier."

"Beth Everette."

"Erik Lehnsherr."

"Go fuck yourself." The man said gruffly before putting the cigar back into his mouth and we all looked at each other before exciting the pub and getting into the car.

"I think we had enough people anyways.." I mumbled.
