"How many others are out there?" I inquired.

"One." He answered.

"If it's not words, if it's not pictures, what would it take to convince you that this is for real? What if I drove you to the community? All of you? We leave now, we'll get there by lunch." He continued.

"I'm not sure how the fifteen of us are going to fit in the car you and your one friend drove down here in." Rick replied.

"We drove separately," Aaron answered. "If we found a group, we wanted to be able to bring them all home."

-

"So we're going?" I asked Rick.

He nodded, and walked off.

I sighed, not knowing what to do about us anymore.

-

The gate slid open, revealing a beautiful community.

"Come on in, guys." Aaron ordered.

"Hand over your weapons." A man with curly hair ordered.

"Why should we?" I asked.

"It's fine, Nicholas." Aaron replied.

-

"Do you mind if I film this?" Deanna asked, who was like the leader, I guess.

"Why?" I asked.

"We're about transparency here." She replied.

I nodded, hearing the camera beep.

"You have a beautiful community." I stated.

"Thank you." She replied, smiling.

My eyes wandered around the room before she sat down on the couch in front of me.

"How long have you been out there?" She asked.

"Almost too long." I answered.

"What did you do before all of this?" She inquired.

"Nothing special. I worked in a flower shop." I answered.

"How did you keep going through everything?" She asked.

"I'd love to know, but I think trying to stay positive. When my, uh, boyfriend died, I thought I lost myself. I thought I fell back into the deep end, but I kept telling myself to keep moving." I answered.

"I'm sorry about your loss." She replied.

I smiled, continuing to answer her questions.

-

I brushed out my clean hair, not remembering when it was actually this clean.

Brushing my teeth and shaving my legs were the best part, though.

I pulled on a cute flannel before looking in the mirror.

I walked downstairs, everyone scattered around the house.

"Hot damn!" Tara teased as I walked into the living room.

"Deanna said something about a welcome party?" Rosita asked.

"Yeah, tonight at seven." Tara replied.

I walked into the kitchen, Carol cooking something.

"Well aren't you cute!" She exclaimed.

I laughed, watching her chop up some kind of vegetable.
