CVI. Game On (Part 2)

Start from the beginning

"And that's it!! Yuko Sorama wins!!" The referee announced. "And that concludes the first day of the Battle City Semi-Finals!! We'll see you all back here tomorrow evening!!"

*****

Yuko and Benta entered the waiting room. Neji approached them. "That was great guys!"

Yusuke followed behind. "Impressive work Yuko. You too Benta."

"Thanks guys," Yuko said. He made eye contact with Ichitawa who in the back of the room.

"Keep it up Sorama," Ichitawa said. "You'll need to be on your A-Game tomorrow. Same to you, Yusuke." He left without another word.

Yusuke balled his fist. "We have to stop him."

Yuko nodded. "You're right. Hopefully one of us will face him tomorrow."

"But in the meantime, let's get out of here and celebrate," Benta said. "My best friend's in the final four!!"

*****

Yuko, Benta, Neji, and Yusuke met up with Tammi, Sho, and Kira in the parking lot. Tammi ran into Yuko's arms.

"You guys were great!!" She cheered.

Yuko held her closer. He couldn't help but smile. "Thanks T."

"So uh Benta and Neji...how does this feel to be losers?" Sho said, but Kira stepped on his foot. "Ow!"

"That's rude," She informed.

Neji and Benta laughed. "I'm not complaining," Neji said. "I managed to make Yusuke have a good time and that's a great enough accomplishment."

"It sure is son." Mr. Fudo approached the group and hugged his son.

"I'm glad you dad!"

"Are you kidding me? You were amazing out there. Your mother would be proud."

"I would hope so."

Mr. Fudo turned to Yuko, Benta, and Yusuke. "You all had great duels too. Nice work and good luck tomorrow Yuko and Yusuke."

Yuko gave a peace sign and grinned. "Thanks Mr. Fudo."

Tammi looked around for her brother. She still couldn't believe that he went crazy and hurt Koji. It wasn't like him at all. "So where's Kenji?"

Yuko looked down. "I haven't seen since Jonah's duel with Ichitawa. He walked off somewhere to be alone I guess." He balled his fist. "I can't believe he hurt Koji!"

Yuko tooked a deep breath to calm himself. He needed to focus only on Koji at that moment. "So how's Koji?"

Tammi, Sho, and Kira all exchanged looks and looked down. "Well..." Tammi began. "He's in bad shape..."

*****

The nurse who looked after Koji opened the door and led Yuko into the room. "I wish I could've brought the rest of your friends in here too, but there can only be one visitor at a time."

"I understand. Thank you," Yuko replied as he slowly approached Koji's bed.

"I'll leave you two." The nurse exited the room.

Yuko laid his eyes on his comatose friend. A tear rolled down his face. It pained him to see Koji in that state and it angered him that Kenji caused this. "Koji....what has Kenji done to you?"

He took a seat next to the bed and grabbed Koji hand. He immediately began to cry. "I wish I could've done something!! You didn't deserve this!!!"

Yuko felt a little responsible for what happened to Koji. "Kenji was mad at me!! I should've stayed away from Tammi like he wanted!!! Maybe if I did, you would still be here!!! It's my fault!!!"

He hoped to see Koji's eyes twitch a little, but no luck. Yuko wiped his tears. "I have to make this right. You didn't deserve to end up here. Kenji has to pay."

Yuko held Koji's hand tighter. His emotions were getting stronger and stronger. "I promise you Koji," The Mark of Unity began to glow. "The next time I see Kenji, I'm going show him how out of control I can get."

After a few minutes, Yuko exited Koji's room and approached his friends in the hallway.

"He's still out?" Benta asked.

"Yeah," Yuko walked up to Tammi. "Tam if you see Kenji, please tell him this," He looked down at his deck and back into Tammi's eyes. "I'm coming for him."

*****

Ichitawa and Dr. Phin Xa stood together in a meeting room. Phin Xa poured some champagne into a tall glass and raised it into the air for a toast. "Nice work today Ichitawa sir."

Ichitawa grinned. "Thank you, but I still need to face Yusuke."

Phin Xa finished his drink. "I'm sure you'll get your chance after you defeat that Yuko boy and his Hyper Zeo."

"Yuko Sorama is definately quite the duelist, but I don't need to face him if I don't have to. Yusuke's my main priority."

"And what about the Itaru boy?"

"Kenji's skills are impressive, but it seems that he has a bit of a temper." Then Ichitawa came up with a brilliant idea. "That's it!"

Phin Xa raised his eyebrow. "What is it sir?"

Ichitawa turned to his advisor with a smirk. "If I can make him angry enough, he'll be a breeze to defeat and that'll be my free ticket to finals."

"That's smart. And I saw assume that you want Yusuke to face Yuko then?"

Ichitawa kept his smirk. "Well of course. Yuko's passionate enough for Yusuke and obviously strong enough to meet Yusuke's Heart of whatever he calls it." He pulled out his Hyper Zeo. "And because I know Yusuke so well, he'll win, leaving me and him to face off in the finals! It's perfect!!"

Phin Xa nodded at the plan. "I'll make sure that happens then sir."

"You better." Ichitawa faced Phin Xa. He made a note of his advisor's intriguing grey eye color. "Have I said that you have the most interesting eye color?"

Phin Xa smiled. "Thank you sir. It was a gift from birth." He poured another glass. "To a future victory?"

Ichitawa also poured a glass and raised it. "And a throne fit for a king like me."

*****

The hospital was near closing times, but someone managed to enter Koji's room without being noticed.

Kenji approached Koji's bed and frowned. "I hurt you pretty bad huh?" He wasn't angry anymore and he didn't feel pain in my eyes. He was back to his normal self.

Kenji understood what he did was wrong. He just wished he could fix what he caused. Koji didn't deserve to be in a coma. Kenji sighed.

"I'm sorry kid. I lost it."
