Aimée---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

--

I ran into my room as fast as I possibly could. I guess I ran a little too fast because I smacked my head into the door. When it opened, I ran to my bed, tripping on my own feet and landing head first at the edge of my bed.

"Why?!" I yelled, "Why does everything happen to me?" I picked myself up and crawled to the edge of the bed, rolling on top of it. Curling up into fetal position, I sniffled once, then burst into tears. It was messy. After 20 minutes and 35 seconds of feeling sorry for myself, I sniffed, stood up and shuffled over to the bathroom. I used to take a long, hot shower when I felt sorry for myself back home, and that's exactly what I did then.

After my shower, I walked over to my closet and put on a shirt and pants. The pants became my favorite pair of gray Pink sweats from home, and I burst into tears again. I grabbed some tissues from the kitchen and walked over to the fireplace. I layed down on the white leather sofa and watched the fire burn slowly, as I mopped up my face with tissues.

I laid there for a few minutes, until I was alerted that someone was at the door. I rolled over facing the way the door would be, if the back of the couch wasn't obstructing my view. Then I pushed myself up onto my knees, wiping the tears and snot off my face. I sniffed, sighed, then allowed them to come in.

"Er, is this a bad time? I can come back when you're less like a, you know, goo monster." I smiled a little, and replied, "No. It's okay. What do you want?"

"Well, I want to apologize for the way Nolan acted."

"This isn't your fault," I said.

"No, it isn't I know that. But like I said, I want to-"

"Don't apologize for him. You haven't done anything, and you certainly don't owe that dip-shit anything. Now. If that's the only reason you're here, you can leave." I made to lie back down, but he cleared his throat. I sighed again and sat back up.

"What is it?"

"Well, I went and talked to him... and I think he's sorry."

"So why are you here? If he's sorry, why can't he just grow a pair and say so?"

"He doesn't work that way."

"Like hell he doesn't! He can just learn it real fast!"

"Calm down. Just...just chill, Aimée. I'm sure he'll be here soon. I've known him for a long time. I had to talk it in to him, but he knows what's the right thing to do. I'm going to leave now, okay?"

"Yeah, okay fine. Bye Nathan."

"Bye."

I laid back down, and heard the door whoosh shut. I rolled my eyes and picked at the stuff underneath my fingernail. Then I got up and walked to the library, sitting down in my chair. I looked over to the desk. Sitting there was the journal the gave me. I picked it up, and noticed that the cover was marbled green, black and blue, like a bag I had made years ago in art class. I took it everywhere. But when I picked it up, it shone with all the colors of the rainbow. I smiled sadly, cracked it open, and moved to get a pencil, when I noticed a keypad. I flipped to the other pages, they were blank.

"Pretty neat, huh?"

I swiveled around quickly, knocking the journal off the desk as I did. He bent to pick it up, and handed it to me.

"That's an older invention, but I'm particularly fond of it."

"H-how did you get in?" I asked. He looked at me like I was stupid, and continued.

"The cover mimics your favorite pattern. And the pages are pretty neat, too. There's two modes. In one you write, then you switch to the other and read. What you type is shown on the pages of the journal. Of course, if you prefer to write, there's a stylus in the spine and a button you press-"

"Why are you talking to me? You were screaming at me over an hour ago."

"You're on my ship. I'm allowed to talk to people on my ship, silly."

"Yeah, but you're pissed at me, right?"

He sighed and ran his fingers through his hair.

"Yeah, well, here's the thing. I've been thinking. Some about what I'll have for breakfast tomorrow, some about what I said."

"Points for honesty, at least." He stared at me then continued.

"Anyways, I don't like apologizing. It implies that you're wrong, and I just can't handle being wrong. But I was. And, erm, yeah. Acting out of anger and hurt is how wars get started."

I stared at him, making sure he was serious. I could tell he was.

"Although you didn't actually come out and say 'I'm sorry', I accept your apology. I understand."

"Really?"

"Yes. Really."

"Wow. That was easier that I thought. Glad I got that out of me."

"That's what she said," I replied, smiling. "So,"

"So..." he replied, looking awkward.

"So, since your next meal is one of your top priorities, do you and Nathan want to come and have breakfast here? I promise I'll wake up in time."

"Depends. I'm allergic to anything burnt or undercooked, or an unnatural color."

"Well I'm allergic to stupidity. I'm holding back a sneeze right now."

"Haha. You're hilarious."

"I know. Oh, and I'm not telling you. It'll be a surprise."

"Fine. Ten?"

"Fine. Tell the idiot."

"Will do." He turned to leave, but I thought of something.

"How did you get in?" He turned around, smirked, and said,

"I can't tell you anything other than the fact that I know this ship better than anyone. Especially it's unsymmetrical parts. Later," and he walked off.
