I sit at my desk in my bedroom, typing away furiously on my laptop in order to finish a paper for one of my class's when my ringing phone startles me out of my state of concentration. Usually I would be annoyed from being interrupted when I was on a roll, my fingers flying across the keyboard as the words for my English essay just flowed through my mind. However when I glance down at the screen and notice my boyfriend's smiling face I can't help but smile back at it, my paper completely forgotten at this point.

"Hey, Rocky," I say after sliding the little green phone on the screen and answering the call.

"Hi babe! You ready to go? I'm pulling down your street now?" my boyfriend's distant voice answers as he uses the Bluetooth in his car.

"What?" I say, glancing at the time displayed in the small corner of my laptop. "Oh, crap! I completely lost track of time!" I exclaim. Rocky was planning on taking me on a super romantic date tonight and I was to be ready at 5:00 when he picked me up. Sure enough it's that time and I'm still wearing sweatpants with my hair thrown in a messy bun and my glasses still on.

"That's ok. I don't mind waiting. Unless tonight just isn't going to work out..." Rocky trails off. The last thing I want to do is cancel on him considering it's been weeks since we've been able to have a night out, just the two of us, as we try and juggle our crazy schedules.

"No, I can get ready quickly! I promise," I say, already pressing the save button on my document multiple times. The last thing I need is to lose my 10 page paper and all of that time and research I have put into it.

"Alright. I'm here," he says as I hear the rumble of his car turn into my driveway.

"Come on in. The door's open. I'll be down soon!" I tell Rocky, hanging up and throwing my closet open in hopes that the right outfit will just jump out at me or something.

I remember Rocky telling me to wear something casual but a guy never understands that 'casual' is a very broad topic. After riffling through my dresses and tops I sigh and decide to just go downstairs and ask my boyfriend to be more specific.

I walk down the stairs and spot Rocky sitting on the couch in the living room and I can't help but take a moment to admire him without him actually knowing it. He's such a tall and masculine man, his hair pulled back sexily in a bun and the T-shirt he is wearing exposes most of his tattoos.

"Hey babe," I say, getting Rocky's attention and causing him to turn around and look at me.

"Shelby – wow!" Rocky says before I can ask him about my attire. "Who knew that just-rolled-out-of-bed casual would look so good on you?" he laughs.

"Ha ha. Very funny. Seriously though, how casual do you want me to look? A dress, or jeans or...you know what, you'd probably be better off just telling me what we're doing," I say, hoping he'll give in.

Instead he just stands up and meets me at the bottom of the stairs. Although because I am up on the third step we are actually the same height for now.

"Nope. No way! I told you it's a surprise and it's going to stay that way! Wear a dress, jeans, a skirt; even those sweatpants! I don't care because no matter what you'll still be my beautiful girl," Rocky says, leaning forward and kissing me lightly. "Now go get dressed!" he commands, spinning me around and giving me a small slap on the butt as I ascend.

Keeping Rocky's words in mind – which were as useless as I had expected – I end up selecting the dress I wore on our first date. Poking my contact lenses in my eyes and sliding black sandals on my feet I head back downstairs and follow Rocky out to his waiting car.
