One.

“Summer, are you ready?”

I closed the zipper of my bag and looked at my sister.

“Yep. I’m ready to go.”

“Let’s go. It’s already late. Mom’s texting me for every five minutes, and it’s kinda irritating you know?” I laughed.

“Well, she’s just excited for this family thing.” I smiled.

“Yeah right. I’m now engaged and you’ve finally graduated college but then ngayon niya lang naisip gumawa ng ganto.” She sat at the edge of my bed.

“Hahah. Just.. try to understand her na lang ate..”

“What else can I do?” Her phone beeped. “Mom says we need to go, she ordered breakfast daw e.”

“Tell her be ready for lunch na din. It’s almost eight tapos we’re headed to batangas. I’ll be definitely starving when we get there.” We both laughed.

“Sure. I’ll be waiting for you downstairs ha?”

“Sige ate, I’ll just get my bags.”

“Summer, wake up. Nandito na tayo.” Ate gently pulled my hand.

“Hmm what?” I said while removing the earphones in my ear.

“I said wake up. Nasa labas na ng car si mama together with her husband. Dali.” She opened her side door and went out.

I grabbed my backpack and a little sling bag and went out. “Summer! You look so good!” Umikot si mom sa sasakyan and went to hugged me.

“Y-yeah.. You two mom.” She kept hugging me for a moment. “M-ma.. I can’t breathe.”

“Oh sorry baby. I just missed you.” Tapos nag-smile siya and then she held my face.

“Yeah. You’ll really missed me. You’ve been gone for too long remember?” Then I looked at her expressionless.

“But.. I-i.. I’m sorry baby..”

“Ma, where’s our room? I need to change clothes na kasi.” Tiningnan ko si ate and smiled at her for saving me in mom’s another drama.

“Oh right! Right. Let’s go. Hon, can you please help Summer with her bags?”

Lumapit si Tito Lyam sakin to get my backpack. “No thanks tito, I can manage.”

“Are you sure? I’ll help you with that na lang.”

“No, kaya ko po.” Then I went for the stairs.

It’s a nice resort. White sand, awesome shore, beautiful sights. I think I might as well enjoy this place alone.

“Here, Summer, this is your room. Your ate’s room is beside ours sa taas. I’m sorry hindi na kita naikuha ng room upstairs, we missed a day ng reservation.”

“No, it’s okay. I’ll go freshen up muna.”

“Sure. We’ll see you in an hour okay?” Ate said while kissing my cheeks.

“Sure.” I opened the door and went inside.

I put my bags down and sat on the bed.

My phone beeped. “Sweetie, you have an hour to yourself, magikot-ikot ka muna and I’ll take care of mom muna. Enjoy.” Thanks ate.

I changed into thongs and some loose blouse and shorts. I got my camera and went outside.

I went straight dun sa shoreline. Took some pictures that were cool then nagpunta naman ako dun sa medyo mabatong part. Umakyat ako sa taas kasi it’s a quiet place. Walang stress.

The water down below is so blue. The sky above me is so calm. I wish it could be just this simple.

I decided to take a picture of myself pero di ko alam kung paano. Bahala na. I put the camera in front me and smiled.

“Wow, how uncool. Hindi naman ako kita.”

“Hahah. I’ll take it.” I looked behind.

“Er. No thanks, di bale na lang.”

“Come on. Sayang naman. It’s a nice view. Don’t worry, hindi ko nanakawin yung cam mo.” He smirked.

“Nevermind.”

“Are you alone?” He stood beside me.

“No, I’m with my ate.”

“Oh. Kayo lang? Boyfriend mo?”

“Umm.. it’s kinda personal and besides I don’t even know you bakit ko sasabihin?”

“Then I’m Rain, and you are?” He let out his hand.

“Summer.”

“Seriously?” He laughed a bit.

“Yeah? What’s so funny?”

“Wala lang. Napaka-opposite lang natin. My name’s Rain then yours is Summer. It sounds funny.”

“You don’t even know me at all nga e.”

“Then, introduce yourself.”

“Nah. Maybe later. Kain muna tayo.” I looked at him.

“Sure. San tayo?” He smiled brightly.

“Somewhere little cheap, kung okay lang. I forgot to withdraw on our way here e.”

He laughed. “Okay lang. Tara, sagot ko na.”

“Hati tayo.”

“Hahah. Sige na.”

And then we went dun sa tingi-tingi. Yung may mga nag-iihaw. We ate barbeque. Grabe. He said cheap na daw yun. Is he joking? E twenty pesos ang isa? Grabeng kurakot.

“Ano, san naman tayo?” He asked nung naka-alis na kami sa barbeque stand.

“I don’t know. I’ll be meeting my ate in five minutes e.”

“Too bad. Sige, I’ll meet you later na lang? Dinner tayo?”

“Hahah. Sure.”

“At seven?”

“Seven-thirty. Meet me here na lang. Dyan lang naman yung cabin ko e.”

“Sige. Bye. Take care.” He waved goodbye.

“Hahah. You too.” I walked the opposite direction from him and pumunta dun sa restaurant kung san kami mag-llunch.
