"Starting line up, wearing jersey number eight, Tres Porlejas, Fighting Maroon's Middle Blocker."

Tres ran to the other side of the court after giving all of us a high five. "Wearing jersey number three, Frat Yozeda, Fighting Maroon's Open Spiker," the announcer continues.

The introduction called all the first line up, including me as their captain. "Fighting Maroon's Team Captain, wearing jersey number sixteen, Zeus Fernorei!" I gave my other players a high five including our coach and other staff.

Tumakbo agad ako sa gitna pagkatapos makipag-apir sa kanila. Madilim ang buong arena dahil hindi pa naman nagsisimula ang laban. Bale, nasa team namin ang spotlight bago iyon inilipat sa kabilang team para sila naman ang i-introduce.

Humupa rin ang sigawan no'ng tinawag kami at nabaling ang atensyon nila sa kabila. Lalo na at halos nahati ang buong arena sa mga fans at supporters ng dalawang team.

The announcer introduced the other team. "Wearing jersey number twenty-six, Ateneo's Outside Spiker, Uno Galvera!"

Rinig na rinig ang hiyawan sa buong arena nang siya na ang tumakbo papunta sa teammates niya. The cheers got more loud when the lights were on for the whole court.

Nakasuot ng maroon polo shirt ang bench cheering personnel ng UP habang iba't-ibang stretchable outfits naman sa mismong cheerdance. Nag-perform kasi sila kanina bago pa dumilim ang paligid at pinakilala ang mga players.

Nagsimula na agad ang laro nang matapos ang pagpapakilala sa dalawang referee sa laban. This game is now aired on television and other social media platforms since this one is not just a championship match, this will answer all the questions if we can defend our title from last year or we will be dethroned by the other team. Which I will make sure not gonna happen.

Ateneo got the first ball so we are so focused now. Plakado na sa pwesto niya ang libero namin. When the whistle rang, the other team served the ball. Masyadong lobo ang paghagis sa bola kaya napahiga agad ang libero namin.

It was set by Caleb before I jumped for a spike. Nasalo naman iyon ng kabila kaya tumalon ulit kami nina Tres at Frat para i-block ang bola. Kamuntik na sumadsad ang bola sa kabilang team dahil sa lakas ng pagkahampas sa mga kamay namin kaso naihabol pa ng libero nilang isalba ang bola.

The crowd gets wild when the other team manages to make the ball alive. Pumuwesto agad ako sa gilid para maghanda sa pagtalon nang maayos na ma-receive ni Kez ang bola.

I tried to spike it to the space behind them but their libero tried to catch the ball. Dumaplis lang 'yon sa kamay niya kaya mas tumalbog palayo. Akala ko makukuha na namin ang paunang puntos kaso biglang tumakbo ng mabilis si Uno at hinabol ang bola. Gumulong pa siya hanggang sa makarating siya sa barries sa gilid ng court.

Naisalba naman niya ang bola kaya naging alerto ulit ang mga kasama ko. Their setter managed to set the ball but fell short when a miscommunication happened. Mahina lang nag pagkahampas sa bola kaya dumaplis sa net at umuntog pabalik sa kanila, they even tried to save it but it turned out to be a violation since it was the fourth hand already.

Putek, ang tagal ng unang puntos. Nakapuntos nga, pero sobrang tagal dahil tutok na tutok talaga ang kabilang team sa bawat galaw namin. I bet they really work hard to study every bit of our strategies.

Humiyaw ang cheerer mula sa unibersidad namin.

"Fighting Maroons, walang takot kahit kanino!" sabay-sabay naming sigaw nang magkumpolan kami sa gitna.
