I just realized
that school is starting soon
summers ending,
on a broken tune.
I am not ready
to see people and faces
so many people and faces
that I have to lie to
day in and day out
to fake my smile
and say I'm okay
out loud.
Truth be told
when that time comes
I might just break down
in the middle of the
empty crowd.
I'm not ready
to smile again
the kind that hurts
deep inside your chest
to feel like dirt
amongst the rest.
Summer's ending in a couple days
and I'm not ready
to pretend to be okay.
