"Welcome back, Harley!" bati ni Janine nang makita kaming naglalakad papasok ng auditorium.
It's Friday again, meaning we'll be going back to the Eco-Modelo practice. Practice went smoothly last time. We already finished the routine and we already practiced the dance practice for the production number.
"Hi, Janine!" I waved back.
"Oh." mukhang natigilan ito sa paglalakad palapit sa amin nang may mapagtanto. "Magkasama kayo?" he pointed at the man beside me.
My forehead creased. "Yeah?" patanong kong saad, not really knowing what's wrong with it.
She smiled. "So... bati na kayo?" she asked.
Narinig ko ang mahinang pagtikhim ni Archein sa gilid ko. My forehead creased deeper. What does she mean by that?
"Oh, nevermind." Janine shrugged before walking closer to us. "Upo na muna kayo ro'n, hihintayin lang natin yung iba."
Magkatabi kaming umupo ni Archein sa stage. We sat at the edge, letting our feet dangle down. Ibinaba niya ang kaniyang bag at gano'n din ang ginawa ko.
"Have you memorized your answer for the question and answer round?" biglang tanong sa akin ni Archein.
I bit my lower lip. To be honest, I haven't paid that much attention to that yet. Marami pa naman kasing oras. Even if I only start now, I think I can still memorize all of it before the competition begins.
"We have less than a month before the competition. But it's more than enough time for me to memorize this." I smiled.
"Don't tell me..." magkasalubong ang mga kilay niyang tanong.
"Memorize ko naman na 'yong answers sa first three questions!" I defended myself. Totoo naman! Memorize ko naman na 'yong mga sagot sa tatlong questions.
Umiling na lamang siya nang dahil sa kaniyang nalaman.
"I knew it. Hindi talaga 'yong printed copy ng questions ang pakay mo no'ng last time eh. Gusto mo lang talaga akong makita no'n!" he spout. A smirk was formed across his lips.
My face reddened as I heard what he said. Hinuhuli niya ba ako? Don't tell me na naghinala na siyang no'ng nagpasama ako sa kaniya bumili ng grocery ay ang pakay ko lang naman talaga ay makita siya, hindi ang kunin ang printed copy ng questions?!
"H-hin—"
"And don't even try to deny it, woman." he interrupted. Napatingin na lang ako sa kaniya at tumambad lamang sa akin ang mas lumalawak niyang ngisi. "If you really cared about the questions, you would've already taken your time to memorize it together with the answer." he added.
I just tsked and looked away. "M-masyado pala akong obvious no'n?" I mumbled to myself.
"Ha!" he exclaimed, feeling like he won. "Crush mo 'ko 'no!" saad nito.
Agad akong napatingin sa kaniya nang sabihin niya 'yon. I could feel the blood rushing in my veins glowing crimson in my face. I raised a brow at him when I saw a hellish smirk in his face.
"Crush mo na 'ko na no'n, Harley 'no?!" he teased, even trying to reach for my waist, attempting to tickle me.
Kahit sa loob-loob ko'y gusto kong magpakiliti sa kaniya, I kept my stance and continued to look grumpy. Tinapik ko ang kamay niyang inaabot ang tagiliran ko at mukhang hindi naman siya na-offend do'n, tumawa pa nga.
"Maghunos-dili ka nga!" singhal ko.
Even though what he's saying is partially true, there's no way in hell I'd be admitting that I had a crush on him ever since. Che! No! Bahala siya!
