ARABELLA'S POV

“I really don’t want to go to this dinner." I sighed, wanting to stay here with Kara.

“I know, I know, but you have to, duty calls! Look, love you lots, but I have to go work, so be thankful, you at least get to have fun, missy! I hope you survive all of your horrible ladies-in-waiting! Bye!” Kara said super-fast, running around getting her bags of what she got. She grabbed her coat before slamming the door shut. I felt bad making her late for work, but I don’t think she minded, to tell you the truth.

Instead of calling for my ladies-in-waiting like I was supposed to, I just sat down on my chair and began to get ready. My mom wouldn’t be happy if she found out, but I really didn’t care anymore.

I grabbed one of the dresses in the back of my closet, at random, and put it on. It turned out to be a deep purple floor length gown that had one strap that fell down my shoulder a little ways. It seemed to shimmer when I turned.

“Ohhhhh wow princess. You look great!” Michelle said as I stepped out the door.

“Thanks.” I said, not bothering to look at her. I was not looking forward to this dinner at all, but what could I do? A bunch of people would probably be there, and I would have to act all cheery when I really wasn’t.

“Ahhhhh, Princess Arabella. Right this way.” A man in a suit said, and opened the door to the dining room where everyone was serving dinner.

Inside, there were about 50 people walking around and talking. I looked to see my mother and father in a group with about four or five other people. I saw them all laugh at something my dad had said. I looked around, but didn’t see anybody that I would want to talk to, so I decided that I would go up to them.

“Arabella, let me introduce you to a few people.” My mother said as she hugged me quickly, and smiled. To everyone else, it looked really sweet and mother-daughterly, but I knew that it was all fake and just for the cameras.

“This is Prince Jacob and Princess Kate, the third for the thrown. This is a visiting bank owner from Moldova-Benjamin Teddington, and his wife Melissa. “My mother said, pointing them out.

I shook hands with everyone, and they all smiled and said hello. They were all talking about something that I had no clue over, and I really didn’t care. I noticed that there were a few people my age there, but I had no interest in going and talking to them. The guys were all checking me out, and not being so secretive about it, either. The girls who were there were all glaring at me. I just rolled my eyes, and went to go sit down on the left of my father.

Everyone sat down after me, and soon the chefs started bring out food. I wasn’t paying any attention, and I was starting to think that Kara’s idea of sneaking away might not be so hard. After dinner, we all went into the smaller of our two ballrooms. There was a band playing while a few people danced, but mostly everyone just talked. The guys who were looking at me earlier came and asked me to dance. I politely turned them all down. After about 30 minutes in the ballroom, I decided to text Kara.
