I woke up the next morning, did my morning routine, took a quick shower and put on my outfit for the day, which consisted of a purple Camp Rock t-shirt, blue jean capris, black flip flops,my necklace Shane gave me, and my hair in a high ponytail. As I walked out of my cabin and into the mess hall, I bumped into Shane in the breakfast line. Shane was wearing a gray shirt, brown shorts, brown flip flops, and a black guitar pick necklace. "Hey babe." Shane said as he picked up a plate and got some pancakes and sausage. "Hi. Aren't you supposed to be teaching your students this morning or are you doing another surprise performance for the campers or better yet, a water balloon fight against the campers and the staff, Mr.Camp Rock Director?" I asked as I sat on the opposite side of the table while I took a bite of my French toast. "Nik, I'm sorry about the performance yesterday. But, I thought you needed it. Even the rest of the guys did too. Lately, you've just been acting a little bossy." Shane said as he took a drink of his orange juice. "Well, excuse me for wanting us to be our BEST on that stage!" I said getting upset as I got my half eaten breakfast and threw it in the trash. "And I'm just trying to make our summer a little bit more fun." Shane said as he held my arm. "Nikki, we've still gotta finish the last song." Ally said as she called me from the outside the mess hall door. Ally was wearing a turquoise shirt, dark blue skinny jeans, white flats, her hair in a side ponytail, and her moon and sun necklace, which represented Austin as the Moon and Ally as the Sun. I just walked out of the room without saying a word to Shane. "What's up with you two?" She asked me as she held her songbook. "Nothing much. So how the song coming along?" I asked as I held her song book to see what she wrote so far. "Well, I've been wanting to write about what Camp Rock is all about but I haven't thought of anything." Ally said as she sat on the bottom of Brown's cabin steps. As soon as she said that,I had an idea. "What are you doing?" She asked as I wrote a bunch of lyrics down in her songbook. "There's the last song." I said as I smiled proudly at my work. "Thanks, now I've gotta go and figure out the 1st two songs." Ally said smiling at me as she walked to the practice room. "Let me come with you." I said smiling as I ran after her. During our lunch break, Austin came to get Ally as we were working on the 1st song, which was my solo. "Hey Alls, they're serving pizza in the mess hall. Do you wanna come?" Austin asked smiling at her. Austin was wearing a red, black and white buttoned up short sleeved shirt, ripped jeans, and gray vans, with a silver guitar pick with Ally's name on it. "Sure. You'll be fine here,Nik?" Ally asked me smiling. "Yeah. I
think I'll use my song "All the Stars" for the solo." I said as I raised up my songbook that Mitchie gave me while smiling at her. "Ok, well I'll bring you back two pepperoni slices to go." Austin said nodding at me. "Thanks buddy." I said waving bye to them. After lunch was over and I ate my pizza and drank a bottle of water, I decided write the duet for the second week. By the time I knew it, it was night time and everyone was sitting by the fire roasting marshmallows and making s'mores. "Hey beautiful." Shane said as he came in and wrapped his arms around me. "Hey. Can you help me finish our duet for the IFJ? It's gotta be perfect if we wanna win the Final Jam." I said smiling at him. "I can't. I've got something else to do." He said smiling at
me. "What could be more important than helping your girlfriend out?" I asked with my hands on my hips. "Our second date. A moonlight swim in the pool with a romantic poolside dinner after. We haven't had one since the night we went to Camp Celeb." He said he pulled out a picnic basket and flashlight, which meant we would go swimming when the lights went out around the cabins. "Now? At a time like this?" I asked with disappointment in my eyes. "Yeah, right now. Am I an amazing boyfriend or what?" Shane said holding my hand. "You know I can't. If I don't write our duet, whose going to." I said pulling my hand away from his. "Hold up, are you saying no?" Shane asked frowning at me. "It feels like you don't know how much I've gotta do." I said now feeling upset. "Well it feels like all you wanna do is work and not spend time with me. The only reason I came back to Camp is to get a break from touring. And now I'm back here trying to find love again and to get away from being the famous rockstar that everyone knows me to be. You know what, just forget that I even asked." Shane said getting his basket and flashlight as he walked away from me. "Well, you know what. Maybe we rushed into this relationship to fast." I said as I grabbed his hand before he could walk out the door. "What are you saying?" Shane asked me. "I talked to Brown and told him if I get too stressed or I can't take it anymore, I should leave." I said with feeling upset as I sat on the piano bench. "So your gonna just leave before we head off to California tomorrow? Just like that." Shane asked me now feeling upset. "I don't want to but, I don't have a choice." I said as I got my songbook and pen and walked to the door. "But what about us?" Shane asked me frowning. "I don't think I believe in us anymore." I said crying as I turned around and handed him the Shnikki necklace he gave me on the night of the Pajama Jam. As I went to my cabin, I heard Shane playing his guitar the practice room to the tune of Nate's song "Before the Storm" that he sung with Dana from last year. As I was packing my stuff, I started singing the beginning of the song.
Nikki: "I know this isn't what I wanted, I've never thought it come this far. Just thinking back to where we started. And how we lost all that we are...." I sung as tears streamed down my face as I looked at a picture Austin took of me and Shane sitting by the lake.
Shane's POV:
I sat in the practice room and thought about this summer that me and Nikki shared and how we wouldn't get it back.
Shane: "We were young and times were easy. But I could see it's not the same. I'm standing here but you don't see me. Give it all for that to change. And I don't want to loose her, I don't want to let her go." I sang as I thought of Nikki being busy with the IFJ stuff.
Nikki's POV:
Off in the distance I heard Shane singing, as I got up and looked out into the night sky. Both: "Standing out in the rain, I need to know if it's over. Cause I would leave you alone."
Shane's POV:
I got up and walked to the door and wondered if this was the end of me and Nikki.
Shane: "I'm flooded with all this pain. Knowing that I'll never hold her, like I did before the storm." I just decided to take a walk outside and sit by the fire.
Shane: "Every strike of lightning."
Nikki's POV:
I decided to walk by the beach before Mitchie came to get me. She told my parents that I was coming home and decided to have a sleepover at my house. I thought about the 1st day that I met Shane.
Nikki: "Comes a memory that lasts."
Shane's POV:
As I threw a piece of wood into the fire, I started thinking about the 1st messed up date. That was fun. I heard Nikki's voice from the beach, it felt like the wind was bringing our voices together.
Both: "And not a word is left unspoken, as the thunder starts to crash."
Nikki's POV:
I felt sad and just thought maybe I should just give up on me and Shane for good.
Nikki: "Maybe I should give up."
No POV:
As Nikki was singing the chorus on the beach and Shane was singing it by the fire, they both kept thinking about how they felt about each other and used to spend time together, and now it was gone.
Nikki's POV:
After I got a text from Mitchie telling me that she was on her way to come and pick me up I started walking back to the cabin.
Nikki:"I'm trying to keep the light from going out."
Shane's POV:
I saw Nikki walking back to her cabin to get her bags and I stopped and looked at her.
Both: "And the clouds are ripping out my broken heart. You always say "a heart is not a home, without the one who gets you through the storm."
Nikki's POV:
I walked out and saw Shane standing there after I got my duffel bag,my purple guitar case with my purple and silver guitar in it, and my brown fringe purse with my songbook in it. I stood there with tears in my eyes. And I just gave him one last hug before Mitchie honked the horn to her white BMW.
Both:"Standing out in the rain, knowing that it's really over. Please, don't leave me alone. I'm flooded with all this pain. Knowing that I'll never hold ya. Like I did before the storm."
Shane's POV:
After she ran to Mitchie's car, she stood there giving me one last look before she got into her car. As they drove away, I stood there and held her necklace as I wondered if I could ever find a way to get my Nik-Nik back. And I wondered how we were gonna win the IFJ without her this week.
Both:" Like I did before the storm."
