The New Boy - CHAPTER 5

Instead of calling Chandler, I walked over to his house.

He lives less than ten metres away, and I thought it was stupid to call someone when they live right next door.

I knock and his Mum answers.

"Hi!" She says cheerfully. She shakes my hand and introduces herself as Gina.

I tell her about the phone call and said I'd like to talk to Chandler.

"Sure, just go up the stairs and it's the room on the left." She smiles.

"Thank you!" I say politely and follow her directions.

When I get to the door, I see that it's got a few stickers on it.

There is one of League of Legends, TØP and a zombie-related one.

I knock and Chandler answers.

"Oh hi." I see him holding the phone. I laugh and he lets me in.

He's wearing a black Twenty One Pilots top and his hair is all messy.Hot.

It suddenly hits me.

I'm in the room of Chandler Riggs.

"So," he sits down on a black chair and looks at me.

A paused video game is in the background.

"When do you want to hang out?" He asks.

I sit on the corner of his bed and say, "Tomorrow maybe? My Mum's away for a month and it's really lonely at home."

He laughs and says, "Well at least you have an awesome next door neighbour!"

Chandler and I decided to go to the movies and see this horror movie.

After that we play a video game called The Last of Us.

Turns out I can smash him and he gets really aggressive.

It's hilarious and cute at the same time.

Gina asks if I wanted to stay for dinner, so I say yes.

I'm going to say this straight forward. Gina is an AMAZING cook!!!

Maybe even better than my Mum.

Grayson is talking to his parents about school so me and Chandler listen quietly.

We both finish a long time before the others so we sit there and listen to him talking.

Suddenly Chandler's hand touches mine, making butterflies fill my stomach.

I smile as Grayson looks at me, but I still think of the feeling of Chandler's hand against mine.

Was it purpose or accidental?

I help Gina clean up after dinner while the boys all watch an episode of The Flash.

I wash a plate as she says, "So where's your Mum?"

"She went to Australia for a work conference." I tell her.

"Oh okay. Chandler told me your friend moved away."

I hand Gina the plate and nod. "He did. But I hope he has fun in England."

Gina puts her hand on my shoulder and says, "He will."

Chandler comes in and leans against the fridge.

"Y/N why don't you stay the night?" Gina offers.

I smile and say, "Thank you, but I have a lot of homework to catch up on."

Chandler comes to the door with me, while his family watch the rest of The Flash.

He closes the door and stands on the top step. I turn and look at him.

"Thank you for having me over! Your family's amazing." I smile.

He grins, "No problem. So tomorrow I'll come over at around 11?"

I nod and look at his face that's illuminated by the doorway light.

Suddenly he leans forward and his arm brushes against mine. Our faces are inches apart and I can feel his breath against my cheek.

Almost as if he's going to kiss me.

But he leans back and says, "Goodnight."

"Goodnight Chandler." I smile and walk away.
