Tadashi gets sick and Hiro tries his best to take care of him.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The digital clock across his half of the room struck 2:38am as he opened his eyes. He wondered why he was awake at this hour - perhaps Hiro was snoring too loud or maybe Mochi decided to curl up in his bed. Hiro was breathing silently. Mochi was nowhere to be found.

However, as Tadashi turned his head around looking for a reason as to why was awake, the motion caused his head to hurt, making him feel slightly dizzy and nauseous. He placed his hand near his jawline while resting his elbow on his bed, giving his head some support. What's going on, he thought to himself. Then in hit him. If Tadashi wasn't awoken by Hiro having a nightmare or by him snoring, it usually meant that he was coming down with something.

Tadashi began to feel the sickness down in his throat. The edges of his neck started inflaming with pain. As he mentally groaned, he decided to put this horrible sensation to the test by swallowing his own saliva. It was the only way to find out if he had a sore throat without waking anyone up.

As the saliva went down, his throat only felt worse; it was like he swallowed a pointy object and a rock trailing closely behind. Tadashi cringed at the feeling, grabbing onto his neck waiting for the pain to go away. Well, I guess that proves it, he thought to himself.

Tadashi hated being sick. He hated feeling physically and mentally weak and vulnerable. He hated having to miss school fearing that he'd get behind. But most importantly, he hated the thought of possibly getting Hiro or even Aunt Cass sick too. He never really got sick very often, but when he did, he felt miserable and helpless. He hated feeling like that.

Why me? Why now? I felt fine when I went to bed. Tadashi thought about every possible way he could've gotten sick. None of his friends were sick. He eventually came to the conclusion that there was something going around and he was one of the unlucky individuals that caught it.

Tadashi tried to breathe out his nose when it occurred to him that it was stuffy. He didn't want to try blowing anything out on the off chance that the disgusting sound it makes would wake Hiro up, so he decided to lay down and try to go back to sleep hoping whatever it was he caught would blow over during the night.

Unfortunately, a ticklish feeling tingled in his throat, interrupting Tadashi from sleeping. Oh no, he thought as the thing in his throat irritated his esophagus more. He knew his body was preparing for him to cough, but he refused to do so. What Tadashi soon started feeling, however, was the tingle crawling further up his throat, making it harder for him to not cough. He tried pressing down his neck with his chin, but the second he lifted his head back up, the tingle came back, feeling like an inflammation. Thinking quickly, Tadashi buried his face into his pillow and let himself cough, only making his throat feel as if it was on fire. The pain from the coughing was so bad, Tadashi's eyes started to tear up, making his eyes feel heavy and his head start to spin. Ah man, this thing is really getting the better of me.

"Tadashi?" Said a familiar voice, startling Tadashi. He peered over at his brother, now awake and sitting up with an eyebrow down and his eyes screaming with concern. Oh great, he thought. I was hoping he wouldn't hear me.

"Are you feeling okay?" Hiro asked noticing moments before, he witnessed his brother face first into his pillow coughing. Tadashi couldn't just lie to him, but he didn't want him to worry either. "I'm alright. Just had to cough." As Tadashi responded to Hiro, he could hear that his voice was hoarse. Naturally, Tadashi's voice always sounded soothing and gentle, but when his throat felt sore, it tended to make him sound too quiet.
