Last Saturday, Kurt and I accompanied Mark sa kanyanh chemo. I didn't stand for an hour in the room.
His doctors let us go inside since request ni Mark at Azriel. Nag ch-chemo si Mark sa Athena. Hindi mapinta mukha ni Mark nung mga oras na pinatalikod siya sa kama niya. A finger size needle is injected in his back, he is squirming in pain at wala kaming magawa ni Kurt. Kurt is holding Mark's hand. And I'm just standing there watching them.
Yung sigaw ni Mark, enduring every pain also sounds so painful to me, di ako nag tagal sa loob at lumabas ako agad. He has to do that every 2-3 weeks.
And kahapon, bantay ang Kuya ni Mark sa kanya sa hospital for recovery. Andun din naman kami ni Kury but Mark insisted na umuwi kami because he doesn't want to look fragile to his friends.
Now, andito ako sa isang park kasama si Kurt. Were on a date okay. He asked me if we can go out and i said yes.
"Remember, before Mark's birthday? Diba nagkasakit siya? James and J asked Eli to take care of him. Sa tingin ko nakakahalata si Si Eli. She asked if Mark was really sick, if he had some disease. The urge to tell her the truth is kicking me pero binigilan ako ni James, at the same time nag promise kami kay Mark" sabi niya while we were eating
"How long has Mark had that cancer?" Tanong ko
"Kwento niya sakin, na discover daw nung 10 siya. he frequently has nosebleeds at nung pagka check up and some laboratory tests, dun na nila nalaman na may Cancer si Mark"
"I knew Mark when we were 13. Hindi siya marunong mag tagalog. Galing siyang L.A and since i can speak english and Tagalog at the time we became friends, I am his personal translator" sabi niya kaya natawa ako
"Kayo ni James? How did you guys meet?"
"It's actually really funny. I was teaching Mark how to bike, so he was pedaling and James was on the way, di nakaliko si Mark. They end up fighting. Magka away na sila noon pa man. They became closer when they saw someone bullying me. I'm kinda small before, ako target at laging naaway" sabi naman siya and i laugh imagining how that went.
"James and Azriel were friends before, James introduced Azriel to us and we eventually get closer years to years. Mark and James always fought for the smallest reason just for a joke until sa accident. That accident really changed us all. Lalo na si Mark. We have that yinyang meme wait let me find it quick" sabi niya saka hinalungkat yung phone niya. He then show me a picture of it. And it made me laugh, its accurate lol.
