"Back to New York," Percy said. "Rachel, can you - "

Percy froze, and so did Lucena. She followed the beam of his flashlight with her eyes, and saw something that both worried and excited her. A few meters ahead of them, on the ground, laid a crumpled clump of red fabric. It was a Rasta cap: the one Grover always wore.

Percy shakily picked it up. It looked like it had been stepped on by a huge muddy boot. That evil little voice in her head cackled and whispered all of the horrible things that could've happened, but she forced those thoughts away and swallowed thickly. The cave floor was mushy and wet from water dripping off the stalactites. There were large footprints like Tyson's, and smaller ones - goat hooves - leading off to the left.

"We have to follow them," Percy said. "They went that way. It must have been recently."

"Great," Lucena nodded, "let's go."
