Rainy Meeting

"So was the person that burst through earlier your friend?"

"I thought she was yours."

After the entire kerfuffle with the fire lord's representatives earlier, I ran back to the inn to drop off the things I bought before meeting up with Ridi.

"She let me go so easily so I thought she was chasing after you."

"No. I lost her pretty quick too."

"Hmm... Maybe she was just trying to shoo us away."

"Then she succeeded. Partially, of course." Well yeah. Ridi has been tailing them ever since so she did drive us away but not Ridi. "Nothing interesting has happened." It's still raining so give it some time.

"At least you know where they're staying." Both of us are hiding in a very tight alleyway between 2 houses in front of a large hotel. It's a different hotel from the Majorna hotel and Strand hotel but that doesn't mean it's not as luxurious as the other 2. "Do you think things might change in the near future?"

"No." There's hardly any movement outside of the hotel other than the occasional Linsburg's residents that get curious and want to see the Mountain Lord's representatives. "What do you have in mind?"

"I want to see if we can find some good blacksmiths." I can't depend on the Sky Lord people. Without a doubt that their service would run my pocket dry. The only reason as to why I don't need to pay for the vambraces is because of Gunfla.

"Let's go." He must have been so bored to accept my proposal that easily.

With Ridi, I take a leisure walk around this part of the town. The rain is still pouring down on the city and the clouds don't look like it would bring out the clear sky anytime soon. Carriages filled with all sorts of stuff like fishes, logs, stones, and ores are being pulled into and out from the dock. The main road is getting pretty muddy from all the carriages that go around. I wouldn't be surprised if a carriage might get stuck from the mud build up.

"Here's one." After walking around for 15 minutes, we finally found a blacksmithing guild. Directly behind the windows of the building, the guild's most prestigious forges are being showcased. The price seems to match up as even the cheapest forge on the showcase doesn't go below 5 Kold. "Excuse us." We both entered the guild and were immediately greeted with racks of racks filled to the brim with metal equipment. From farming tools, different kinds of armors, to adventurer's weapons. All is here.

"Welcome to Sea Forger, how may I help you?" A merchant greets us the moment we enter the building. She clearly plays an active role in the making of some of these items with her muscle as proof. She could crush my head if it was between her arms. She is wearing a long dark brown dress that clearly has several burn marks that are mostly concentrated on the lower part of the dress. Her face has a slightly black hue to it and I can smell smoke coming from her.

"I'm looking for a survival knife." I don't want to keep using my swords to do mundane stuff. It'll wear off the sharpness which would be bad in a combat situation. "Just a normal one would do for me."

"I am shortsword." No, you're a human, Ridi. You're not a shortsword.

"Well then follow me." The woman's brown eyes light up before she leads us down a particular alley of racks. "Here is the survival knife. We had several designs and sizes. You can test them out to see which one suits you more." She stops us and politely points at the 2nd level of the rack. She wasn't kidding when she said they have several designs and sizes. The entire level of the racks are filled with nothing but boxes full of survival knives of various shapes.

I put my hand inside the box that has the lowest price of all the survival knife boxes. Its price reflects its quality as I myself can tell that this isn't very good. The spine of the blade is too thin. It looks like it'll break after 10 uses. Its tip is too short for my liking. Doubt it'll do enough damage if I try to stab someone with it. The handle is made out of cheap wood which will get extremely slippery if wet. All and all, the bottom of the barrel quality of survival knives.
