Standing in the heart of the battlefield, my hands clammy and shaking. Despite it all, I couldn't let my fear show. I had to keep fighting, if not for myself, then to make my parents proud, to ensure that one more day passed and I'd get to see their smiles again. As I steeled my resolve, facing the onslaught of robots, an explosion caught me off-guard. It sent me flying, my body aching from the impact, pain radiating through every inch of my being.
As I struggled to regain my footing, my eyes caught sight of the culprit—a figure, levitating with an unsettling grace. Panic gripped me as I fumbled for my wispon, my breath hitching in fear and pain. The figure's hand began to glow, energy crackling ominously before they unleashed a powerful blast that destroyed my weapon. Their voice cut through the chaos, mocking, "And as if the world answers, to send me a trembling child..."
My vision blurred, tears and dust mingling as I struggled to see through the devastation they'd wrought. My lungs burned with the acrid smoke of gas, and I succumbed to the darkness.
When I came to, I was in a stark, cold cell. Standing up, I peered through the bars only to be met with a vast, empty void. "Am I... floating?" I whispered to myself, a shiver of fear running down my spine at the thought of being suspended over an abyss. Hours passed in a futile attempt to escape, leaving me exhausted and resigned. Oddly enough, it started to rain inside my cell, a small comfort in the grim reality of my situation.
Lying in the middle of my cell, I let the rain wash over me. It didn't ease the pain, but it was a distraction, at least. The cold was biting, and I hugged myself tightly, trying to find some warmth as sleep began to claim me.
Then, unexpectedly, a tray of food appeared. My heart leaped at the sight, even if it was just a gray brick of meatloaf. The excitement was short-lived, but I was grateful for anything to eat. I managed to choke it down, reminding myself that it was sustenance, no matter how unappetizing. My emotions were a tangled mess—fear, resignation, a flicker of hope. But I knew I had to cling to whatever optimism I can find..
