SAMUEL POV

Five years after the engagement party

PRESENT DAY

My brother, Lance, grabbed my attention by informing me that he needed my help with the arrangements for his wedding, and I found myself staring at him bewildered.

"Lance, I must confess that I am completely clueless about weddings and everything that is needed for them. I only know about the weddings we have on a movie set, which are done by the prop guys and the designers." There was no way I could do this; I mean, it's way out of my comfort zone. "I have no clue where to even begin." I told Lance, and he smiled. But what he said next had my jaw dropping to the floor.

"Well, Brooke is helping Ella with her part, so maybe you could ask Brooke for some guidance." Well, my brother is most certainly laying on the guilt, and at the same time mentioning her name.

Brooke.

I never expected Brooke to be involved in this project, but again, what did I think? She's always been eager to lend a hand. I should have known better because she is so annoying and always tries to take control of everything.

Even five years ago, at my brother's engagement party, she was arguing with me about what I said and trying to make it seem like I was in the wrong. Yep, I thought my brother was stupid to fall in love and spend the rest of his life with one woman, and I opened my mouth to Brooke about it. That's when everything changed.

Oh boy, we got into a huge debate over it, drank a little too much, and ended up in my bed together. Boy, she really annoyed me that night until she was laid beneath me, naked, and making the biggest mistake of my life by fucking her brains out. Yep, a one-night stand. I immediately regretted my actions when I woke in the morning, and she was gone without a trace.

But since that night, I haven't been able to get that annoying woman out of my head. Five damn years have passed, and I still can't shake off the memories of that night and how the passion between us was mind-blowing. But that's besides the point, because she's extremely annoying, argumentative, and thinks she's always right, even when she's wrong. That's why we were in an argument, and then I did a stupid thing and slept with her.

And here I am sitting and having a quiet drink with my brother Lance, who just happens to be marrying Brooke's sister Ella. And Lance drops the bombshell that Brooke is helping her sister with the wedding planning, which means I'll have to see her again after all this time.

"Sam, please, do this for me," Lance pleaded with a desperate tone in his voice, even his eyes are pleading with me. "I can't handle all of the wedding preparations on my own. You are my best man, and Brooke is Ella's maid of honour. I really need your help," Lance continued.

My eyes stare at my brother with a mix of concern and hesitation.

Talk about a fucking tornado brewing which will probably become an hurricane and then a tsunami. Yeah, that's what's going to happen I just got that vibe that impending disaster is coming.

I knock back my drink and order another as my eyes glare at my brother Lance.

"I guess I could spare some time to help out with the wedding preparations in between filming for my new movie." I finally respond, unsure of what lies ahead. As memories of our childhood flood my mind, I can't help but feel a sense of obligation towards Lance. Despite the uncertainties, I know deep down that I can't let him down when he needs me the most.

But then I was thinking of revenge on Brooke for all the times she aggravated me and for all the slide remarks she made about my acting and the movies I'm in. Yep, I can get my own back.
