i shifted down slightly, putting my chin atop his shoulder—his hair smelled strongly of shampoo from his shower earlier. i used the same bottle, it was cheaper—but for some reason, i enjoyed knowing he smelled like me. i tightened my arms around him once more, his body pressing up against mine beneath the worn duvet. i didn't want to wake him up, but it seemed i failed at that—as he stirred lightly, a tired groan escaping his mouth. he sat for a moment, and then pulled me closer - which i didn't think was possible, but the 'closeness' really just meant my thigh was between his legs, and his left leg bent to cover and cling to my hip. i liked this closeness, but i couldn't help but feel a void within my chest because i know i'll never be able to experience such a thing fully.
"Leto." he whispered, calling my.. my name, i guess.
"yeah?" i responded, my voice as quiet as his own.
"what's wrong?"
"...huh? nothing?" the hell was he talking about?
"that.. that's not true.." he whispered.
"what? why wouldn't that be true?" silence followed for a moment, the tension of hesitation filling the air.

"...because you're crying."
