Chapter 8- swayamvar

It was evening and Abhimanyu was sitting in his tent lost in thought

He had spent the entire day with Vrishketu, laughing, talking, and having fun. Vrishketu was a fun person to hang out with and Abhimanyu was glad he has a friend like him, happy cheerful, but serious when he needs to be

But there was something bothering him.. angraj

What did Vrishketu mean by angraj having changed after the dyut? Did he really regret it?

Abhimanyu groans in frustration

Abhimanyu: Angraj is the most confusing person ever! First he vows to kill my father then he tries to persuade kakashree duryodhan against lakshagrih then he regrets calling my jyesht mata a vaishya! Just what is he playing at!!

Abhimanyu: I'll ask vrish and see if he can answer my questions but right now I need to sleep, rajkumari uttara's swayamvar is tomorrow and I don't want to look like a half dead zombie... aren't zombies supposed to be dead?

Ughh what is wrong with me! Ever since I learned about angraj my brain is all over the place!

The next morning
All the the competitors start filling in the royal court (where the swayamvar was being held)
Abhimanyu also came and sat in his allocated spot

Abhimanyu pov
Where is vrish? I haven't seen him since morning?
Just then someone came and sat batween the spot where rajkumari uttara and maharaj virat would be sitting. And it was vrish!
Ofcourse! vrish said he was like uttara's brother so he'd be sitting with her! Abhimanyu remembered

"Pssst abhi.. ABHI!" Vrish whisper yelled then started violently waving his hand in front of his face while giving abhimanyu the biggest brightest smile

Oh my god everyone is staring at us! This idiot. Abhimanyu thought while mentally faces palming himself

"Ehehe yea" Abhimanyu replied while awkwardly waving his hand back with an embarrassed face, noticing everyone watching them

"Uhmm" maharaj virat cleared his throat immediately shutting up vrish and Abhimanyu

"Welcome mighty kings and princes! It's my utmost honour and pleasure to welcome you today to my daughter Uttara's swayamvar! The details of the task which you will need to complete to win my daughter's hand will be presented to you by angakumar Vrishketu a second son for me!" King virat finished looking over to vrish

"Pranipat, firstly I'd like to pay my respects to any elders present here, now the task you will need to complete is an archery one as you can see 3 pots have been hanged by a thread over there and they will be moving simultaneously. You will only have one try and you must use only one arrow to pierce through all the 3 pots at the same time, thus winning the hand of rajkumari Uttara!" Vrishketu completed, looking proud of himself for not forgetting any lines which he had spent a month learning

(I have no idea what sort of task I just made up💀 its just whatever came in my mind first)

Some competitors looked arrogant and confident upon hearing this while others looked panicked and sweaty clearly indicating archery wasn't their best skill

Maharaj virat stood up once again and began..
"So now you all are aware of the rules and details of this task, I shall call my daughter Uttara to join us in the sabha" king Virat nodded looking at a few servants

And there she was, decending down the stairs like a goddess decked out in all red, her lashes lowered feeling shy as she took a seat beside vrish

Abhimanyu's jaw dropped looking at her and unlike the evil and lustfull gazes of the other competitors, abhimanyu's gaze was different, one filled with awe, respect and astonishment..
