Consequences

The spar had ended and the winners were decided. Spectators from both sides were at a loss for words after witnessing the battles.

"What the hell did I just witness?"

It was Luka who broke the silence.

"I know Strawhat and Boa Hancock were strong, but not this strong."

"I agree. They didn't use their devil fruits during the invasion, so we didn't realize how strong they really were."

Caria mumbled.

"Jessie and Astrid were completely overwhelmed when they transformed. I know Hancock used her Awakening, but what about Strawhat?"

Tate glanced over at Luffy who was struggling to move.

"Was that strange transformation his Awakening?"

"Snake Princess!"

The Kuja Pirates ran over to Hancock.

"She really is sleeping..."

They stood over her and watched her sleep with a happy expression.

"A Devil Fruit Awakening severely drains the user's strength. So it's no surprise she's out cold. Especially, since probably isn't used to using Awakening."

Elder Nyon said.

(Even so...)

She recalled Hancock's appearance that nearly robbed her soul.

(What terrifying power her Awakening possesses. She became a she-devil.)

"Wait, she was always a demoness."

She said out loud. A hand reached out and grabbed her throat.

"Who are you calling a demoness?"

Hancock opened her eyes and glared at Elder Nyon.

"Ekk! It's a zombie! She rosed from the dead! Stab it with a stake and kill it!"

Hancock sat up still holding on to Elder Nyon's throat.

"Quickly, kill it! Kill it before she--"

"Who are you calling a zombie?!"

Hancock threw Elder Nyon like a baseball. She flew into the ocean.

"Elder!"

The Kuja girls ran after her in panic. Hancock silently dusted herself off.

"Hancock, are you okay?"

Caria approached her while Luka approached Luffy. Luka stooped down and poked the unconscious Jessie with a stick, before poking Luffy when he collapsed trying to get up.

"Oh, Caria."

Hancock pointed at Astrid.

"I told you he would learn his place."

She grinned while Caria smiled dryly.

"Your Awakening was amazing. How does it work?"

"I don't really know myself. I'm still figuring it out. However, I can say it puts me in an intoxicated state."

"Makes sense. You were flirty and seductive. You made me question my own sexuality for a bit."

Caria and Hancock laughed. Meanwhile, Tate approached Luffy.

"I thought it was going to a 2v2. Weren't you supposed to test the other opponent out?"

"....I forgot about that. I was just focused on the beat that bird guy."

"Well, Hancock defeated Astrid before you defeated Jessie, so I guess there's nothing you can do."

He picked up Jessie smacked him across the face.

"Wake up."

"Hah!"

Jessie woke up and looked around with a confused look. Meanwhile, Caria lifted Astrid by his leg and threw him into the water. After a few seconds, he started splashing around.

"What the? Where am I?"

He looked around confused. At that time, the Kuja Pirates had rescued Elder Nyon from the ocean.

"I'm gonna kill that brat one day..."

She growled while her wet hair stuck to her face.

"She survived? I thought a Sea King would eat her. How unfortunate."

Hancock ignored Elder Nyon's death glare and looked in Luffy's direction.

"Luffy~! I won!"

She ran over to him.

"I won too."

Luffy had finally gotten to his feet.

"Ah!"

He looked over at Jessie who shouted. He went limped in Tate's grasp.

"I lost..."

"I lost too."

Astrid flew out of the water and landed next to them.

"Do you know your place in life now?"

Hancock spoke to Astrid while doing her famous pose.

"Yeah, you're stronger than me."

Astrid pulled out a mirror out of who knows where.

"But you're still not prettier than me."

He started fixing his appearance in the mirror.

"Strawhat Luffy!"

Jessie called out to Luffy after Tate put him down.

"I lost, it's your win."

He stretched his hand out. Luffy looked at it and grinned. He shook his hand.

"I won't lose next time though."

Jessie spoke with a grin.

"Keep dreaming."

Luffy let out a laugh and Jessie did the same.

"Luffy, how manly~."

Hancock looked at Luffy with heart eyes.

"I lost to someone like this?"

Astrid mumbled.

"Shut your mouth before she kicks your ass again."

Caria walked up beside him and said.

"Hey, how about a party?"

Luffy suddenly asked.

"Why?"

Caria was confused.

"To celebrate our strength! Why else?!"

Jessie shouted.

"Oh, you get it."

"Of course."

Jessie and Luffy shook hands again.

"Well, we were eating before the spar. We could just continue."

Tate added.

"Then, it's settled!"

"We're gonna have a feast!"

Luffy and Jessie cheered.

"Um, guys."

Everyone turned their head to Luka who was standing next to Frantz's statue. He knocked it with his knuckles.

"What about him?"

An hour later, everyone was gathered in Tate's Mansion eating, drinking, and talking.

"So you're telling me you don't use any beauty products?"

A tipsy Astrid was talking with Hancock.

"I don't. I have no need to."

"I mean, me neither but I'm a natural beauty."

"Me too."

"Well, you were beautiful when you were fighting. So I'll give you that."

"What do you mean?"

Frantz popped up beside Hancock. He pointed at her in an over-the-top fashion.

"This goddess is beautiful 24/7!"

Hancock snapped her fingers. Rindo and Cosmos appeared behind Frantz and dragged him away.

"I'm so so sorry."

Caria said while facepalming.

"Don't worry, I'm used to it."

Hancock drank wine from her glass and looked over at Luffy who was talking with Jessie and Luka.

"You want to become the History's Greatest Bounty Hunter?"

"That's right! I want to be immortalized in history! To do that, I need to capture Great Pirates!"

"Great Pirates? Then you'll need to capture me when I become King of Pirates for your dream to come true."

"That's right. When you become Pirate King I will come and claim your bounty."

Jessie gently hit Luffy's chest with his fists.

"So don't let any marine catch you before then."

"If you think you can, then come try. Just know I'll be far stronger by then."

"I wouldn't want it any other way."

The two started laughing.

"Hey, don't forget me."

Luka spoke up.

"I'm going to come look for you to fight whenever I'm stressed out like you said."

Luffy nodded.

"You can come find me anytime. I won't hide."

"You better remember you said that."

Tate sat and watched them with a smile on his face.

(This is what I want.)

He leaned back in his seat.

(My children enjoying themselves without a care in the world.)

He lifted his glass.

"To a bright future."

He mumbled to himself. His toast went unnoticed. He smiled and drank his wine. He looked around again before closing his eyes.

"........."

He opened them again and his surroundings were dark. His house was a mess, broken furniture and glass were everywhere. He was lying on the ground staring at the ceiling. His body was cold, in contrast to the warm blood he was lying in.

".........."

He silently lifted his hand and somebody grasped it. This person's shadow cast over him.

"Did you finally realize, Tate Tobin?"

The person spoke. Take couldn't see their face. It was hidden by the darkness of the room.

"Our decisions have consequences."

The person let go of Tate's hand and it fell to his side.

"The consequence of your actions is the destruction of Bounty Island and everybody on it."



And so it begins.....
