As I was about to open his door to walk out I thought I heard him mumble something so I stopped and turned around." Did you say something?" I questioned. This time he said it a little louder so that I could hear it. "Please don't go," he trailed off, his voice barely above a whisper. He shifted his weight from one foot to the other, his eyes darting nervously around the room. "I mean, if you want to go, I understand, but...I just don't want you to leave." After he said that he went to lie down and I stood there for a moment before nodding and going to lie down next to him.
As we lay there talking about random things I could tell he was already half asleep by how he was trailing off mid-sentence. It went silent for a moment and I had thought he fell asleep but was found to be wrong when I heard him start to speak."I know this might seem sudden," he started, his voice barely above a whisper. "But I have to tell you. I think I'm in love with you." He closed his eyes, his breathing slow and shallow. "I know it's probably not the right time or place. But I couldn't keep it inside any longer." He trailed off. After he said that I froze, not expecting it.
I love Julian and have for months now I just never told him for fear of rejection and our friendship being ruined. Just as I was about to respond I felt the feeling of a head on my shoulder and the sound of light snores indicating that he had already fallen asleep. I guess I'll just have to tell him another time. I closed my eyes not fighting to stay awake and fell asleep with my head on top of Julian's who was on my shoulder.
